I used to check Acid Phonk before it moved from its NYC home at Columbia over to Truelove years ago, for some of us stateside it was a great resource to find other acid/hard techno people in US/Canada and South America. Recently, I reconnected with some of the guys from Venezuela and we were having a laugh about the site... some of us were wondering what she and the rest of the crew are up to now...

The site's no longer updated, but as I used to manage a links site called A*C*I*D years ago, I'm interested in saying hello and finding out whats up with her and the crew today. Those guys did more than they know to help us out back then... in fact, there's a bunch of sites that used to be great info sites back in the day... Mad Iccy's site was another spot... and remember that Network23 site with the live mixes and the distorted animated graphics? I can barely remember some of them but will dig up my old links page and share it soon... can you guys think of any others?

heya

i wrote most of the AP reviews as DJ Duodenum

Kari and I were pretty much the whole site. I bought piles of records from FAB and tried to help them as much as possible. But I remember that things went to shit when a bunch of distributors folded, FAB got robbed, and I could no longer afford to buy every new release. We were promised promos from the labels, but never got any. I just couldn't keep that habit going :(

Kari got into the "wonky" scene and organized some parties in London, and I went back to art school (6 weeks left!).

i'm mostly into older acid now, as well as the smattering of progressive (Minilogue, Vibrasphere, Ticon) and psytrance (Twisted stuff, Shift, Talpa, etc). I kinda drifted off when the London sound went all techno, as my true love in dance music will always be acid. i'm back to listening to/mixing early-mid-90s German stuff, which is basically where I started in 1995 or so.

I always wondered if anyone was reading our site, so it's good to hear.

Derek is still in Japan, IIRC. I think he found an acid techno scene there!
