Coming at you loud and clear, it's time for the one and only Green Velvet to make his first appearance in Dublin in eons, Mister Jones has been gone too long but he's back to shock the Electric Citizens on August 25th with an exclusive Dublin date. Green Velvet aka Cajmere is one of the true Chicago pioneers who has jacked many the house with a devastating series of tracks though the years such as Preacher Man, Flash, La La Land, Answering Machine, the Stalker and plenty more. His gritty rough Chicago sounds are infectious, undeniably fun records with simple vocal taglines and a wicked sense of humour. In these times of wack Chicago rip-offs, bootlegs and remakes, this will be a chance to see a bona fide master of the sound rock the Electric Shock.
Earlier this year, Green Velvet even remixed the one and only Madonna with his version of her track 'Sorry' becoming a big underground Chicago hit while his most recent 'Shake & Pop' EP featured a wicked track called no less than 'Electricity' - this blatant 'come and get me' plea was passed on to Peter Kenyon, he put the wheels in motion and now we're over the moon to have GV come and play for us here at Electric City FC. We're sure all our supporters will back his appearance in the EC shirt.
The pioneering sound of GV's Relief Records kicked life back into the Chicago scene back in '94 and since then it has been quality not quantity that has set this label apart giving us releases from the likes of DJ Rush, Paul Johnson, Gemini, Joe Lewis, Snapmode, Boo Williams, DJ Sneak, LA Williams, Brian Harden and more. Under his Cajmere name, he has been behind some of the deepest vocal Chicago jams like Brighter Days, Day by Day, Only 4 U, Percolator and I Need U with most of these cropping up on his peerless Cajual label.
Green Velvet will be whipping up a musical and vocal j-j-j-j-j-jackin' storm at Electric Shock on August 25th. Do not miss this exclusive appearance from the Preacher Man. Green Velvet is a true star personality on the house music scene and it really is a pleasure for us to have him play at ES4.
Playing live on the night will be one of Minimise records latest signings, Educution. This project is the brainchild of Dublin based DJ/producer Tóirse. Educution's debut 'Man Versus Man Beast' was received with enthusiasm globally and is getting hot play from the likes of Savas Pascaladis, Ghostly International crew and Evolutive System. One source even declared a new genre had been started 'Horror-Jack'. Having broken his baby teeth performing live under his 'Booger' moniker for the last five years, Educution emerges as a very experienced live performer, pushing the envelope to much harder, crazier and bouncier places. Very busy in the studio at the moment finishing the third release before the second 'The War on Fish/Surf Tec' has even been released, expect things to get a lot hotter.
Opening up proceedings will be Electric City resident Eddie Brennan, one of the most consistent performers across the city over the past few years. Eddie is a fearless pioneer of new technology, always ready to assimilate digital tricknology, gadgets, laptops into his sets to keep things as fresh as possible. All the while never losing sight of the importance of playing straight up good records, Eddie has rocked the Electric City walls on numerous occasions and he will be the perfect warm-up for the night.
