View Full Version : --> The end of quality hard trance? <--

Every time I have been record shopping lately, I am finding it harder and harder to find quality hard trance. It has all become way too predictiable, and formulated. I am also worried that everyone seems to be jumping on the hard style bandwagon to make a few quid, and even the quality there is slipping. Anyone else think this? What do you think about recent hard trance releases? How do you see things going for the trance scene? Serious thoughts please...

I think your right there mate... there doesnt seems to be very much good stuff released init. Its like, go to a record shop, pick up a nice pile, full of respectable labels and have to put all bar one or two back..... not good!
I been buyin loadsa lighter trance recently, like the stuff mentioned in the club trance forum (which there seems to be loadsa wicked releases of late), i know this aint really many peoples cuppa tea, but i think maybe the hard trance dj has to integrate other styles such as club trance, techno and hardstyle to keep a hard trance set fresh...

There is some good stuff comming out but there's just an overwhelming amount of crap too.
I don't think it's the end, it's up to US to only purhcase the good so there sales results show they can't go releasing any old crap I suppose.
I've been buying more hardstyle recently as I've not been happy with the hard trance that's about.

i agree, in my opinion the only people really keeping things moving in the hard trance department are Gas. I've started buying a lot of hardstyle because there just isn't the same quality of hard trance tuneage coming out as has been in the last 2 years. I totally know what you mean baptismo, i went tune shopping two days ago and out of a hefty pile of 'hard trance' tunes i came home with daniel maker- scream or die and gianni pelligrino - millennium, and a couple of hardstyle tunes. That was it - out of about fifty records i found just a couple of really good hard t. tunes and they were on the same label. The rest were same-old same-old hardstyle stuff and boring hard trance.
Nothing interesting seems to be happening. I remember about a year ago going shopping every week and coming home with a load of blinders, and a load more still in the shop that you couldn't afford. Damn shame.. :gutted:

This is where a new breed of hard trance producers need to show some new perspective with trance... this would stem a whole wave of ideas to more established producers to latch on to but the overall gift is some new hard trance to digest!
I call on the Baptist, The Elite, Log:One, Wez, Dave Elysium, Dan T, Colestatic and all the others on here that produce to set the standard for 2004!!! :)
You boy's are the future after all.

hard trance is lagging at the moment, top labels are defo releasing average bollocts, there is still some good stuff on unheard of labels though, just not much!!
RECORD LABELS THINK OF THE MUSIC AND THE CLUBBERS AND NOT A POUND SIGN YOU ****ERS!!!!
THE TRANCE GENERATORS LABEL ALLWAYS CHURN OUT QUALITY TUNES BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WHO RUN IT CARE ABOUT THE MUSIC AND NOT THE MONEY,EVERY TRACK THEY RELEASE YOU CAN TELL BIGTIME WORK AND EFFORT HAS GONE INTO MAKING IT NEAR PERFECT.
KEEP IT REAL!!

yeah, the uplifting trance scene is so strong just now, cant remember it bein so strong for a while, quality tunes by the bucket load coming out, hard trance is in a bit of a dip, but all genres go through it, so wait and see wat comes out soon. No doubt all the producers ave there heads down making sure some good stuff comes out way.

A lot of it is that there is only so much you can do with music, so that means uve heard alot of it b4.
There are good tunes out as we all know. Its just finding them, but THERE IS alot of good stuff out there still
i think hard trance has been on a downhill slope since 1999 maybe 2000 pushin it. ive been feeling this way since about 2000. all i have to do is look at my record collection for the evidence. buying a hard trance record is now becoming a very rare occurance for me.
its not just the fact that my tastes are developing, maturing, and evolving, all i have to do is dig an old hard trance record, and it provides me with a sense of euphoria, less can be said for the majority of hard trance i hear today.
i think the main reason for the decline in the quality of hard trance is that the majority of hard trance artists are content with making music that currently fits the bill, i think a lot of artists are keen to exploit hard trance financially, and i think this opinion also applies to artists who were knocking out quality hard trance 4/5 years ago.

...so its not looking too good from the big producers point of view either i think. so it is looking like the nu-skool talent is going to have to save the sound...
