Well I have been asked to help someone with a list of Leeds based electronic artists. I obviously know a few from the hard techno side - Mike Humphries, Ignitian Techician but I need some more.

Can anyone help get this list rockin? Radio 1 are coming up from London on Friday and want to interview as many as possible for Mary Ann Hobb's show. Would be nice to get the right ppl on there plus a smidgin of techno hehehe ;)

yeah, maybe people who arnt Radio 1 endorsed anyway maybe? Lawson is a big enough name, they should take the opportunity to interview fresh new talent instead of someone who has been on their station/show numerous times before

get the Inspectors interviewed

hmmmmm... well i just tried to put forward a few of the harder techno artists and the response was 'have ya got anything more experimental or minimal??'. i sort of knew that might be the case here but it was worth a go.

is there any more for any more on the more minimal and experimental tip anyone knows of???

MARKEG

yeah i particualry think that audiojack link is the type of stuff they're looking for. but no doubt, if they're connected with ralph lawson, they've already had the exposure. eyes has a point about trying to present something different here i think.

Stumped - was gonna suggest Johny Sideways and the Desert Storm lads Pseudonym and Dr Weevil but if they want more minimal stuff then kinda rules out the hardtek!

RDR
08-08-2006, 02:14 PM
try missperception... more on the detroit tip, but shes got some real nice tunes and plays live too,...

ill do a bit of a live set tonight and post it up for thee.. it might be what they're looking for... not hardtek, funky, chunky (I hope )

chris.

Sorry I keep recommending 2020 Vision-related stuff... Ralph Lawson is the Kevin Bacon of the Leeds house scene - everything can be linked to him somehow! But have you come across a DJ called Simon Baker?

http://www.myspace.com/simonbakerinfantrecords

Infant Records is Simon's label (I wish it didn't have a link to Lawson, but it does)... it's quite trendy schminimal stuff (still quite soulful, mind) so might do well with R1 peeps.

And don't forget the Utah Saints!!

enjoying that a lot... sounds a bit like Jackson & His Computer Band, only more fluid. Minimal, experimental, and he's not (we hope) a mate of Ralph Lawson!

Yeah thats def where she's going - saw it reported in the Metro today.

Thinking of going down myself actually, but there's a free night of d n b, jungle, harsh electronica, electro and techno on down at My House on same night so in two minds.

Col

There happens to be quite a lot of emerging hip-hop artists coming out of Leeds at the moment too. Obviously it all pails into insignificance now though.

Leeds seems to be getting lots of press on all music counts at the moment, and it's about Fuc*ing time. It's a City that has been living in the shadow of City's half it's size for too long.
