Just when you thought the alternative forum couldn't get any worse we now have links to Robbie "the chimp" Williams recordings. Miles Davis yes thats great, but c'mon ffs.

If anything i think this forum has exposed the majority of people's shoddy musical taste, and everybody's lack of interest in music outside techno. i think it's probably time the alternative forum was ordered to the scrap bin imo.

*btw Conflict, the above paragraph is not based solely on the the chimp set - it's just a generalisation on the content posted in this particular forum thus far.

Well it speaks for itself really. Do you see much in the way of cutting edge or credible music posted in this forum? (with the exception of a few of course) i've posted topics which relate to cutting edge/credible music (with links might i add) but its clear most people are not interested in the slightest. I'd love to post 100's of topics in here showcasing some "real" music but i know people don't want that, I would be clearly wasting my own time.

What really f**** me off is when people complain about the state of techno and then in the same breath "hey did you here the new scissor sisters album? it's amazing!!!" puppets on a f****** string.

Sorry none of us meet your amazing standards of music. You obviously know everything and everyone else should bow to your knowledge. I mean, what was I thinking to listen to and enjoy whatever I fancied, and discuss it with others with a common interest, without consulting someone like you who could tell me if I was right or wrong? In fact, I have a great idea to help you out, seeing as everyone who posts on this forum is so pathetically far below your plane of wisdom, why dont you just take your greatness elsewhere and not come back?

Ha.

I'm not asking people to bow to my knowledge. I put my voice forward for the creation of this forum in the hope we could discuss some credible sources of music whilst perhaps introducing myself and others to new sources of music. So far i have seen very little in the way of good music - whether it be something cutting edge, quirky, unique or interesting etc. Thats the point i am getting at.

And for your information i do post on a couple of other forums which discuss various genres of music and uncover artists i have never had the pleasure of listening to on a daily basis. And believe me this forum has hell of a long way to go before it even comes close to those forums.

And the reason i come back is because i still care about techno (well at least 3% of it anyway) although this particular forum seems to pay tribute to the fact that 97% of it is a big pile of steaming turd.

In seriousness - according to the description of this forum its for the discussion of anything, including pop, which means scissor sisters. And I dont think its right to be lecturing people about posting links to scissor sisters sets. For one thing, I dont recall anyone raving on about them, and also, even if they were, what makes you right and them wrong? And, in the above list of sets, I think there are interesting and credible things there. Maybe you dont, but if thats the case, just dont click on the link! No need to get snooty about it, its just your opinion versus someone elses. The Black Crowes have done some well bangin rock tunes, the fact that Jimmy Page played with them should say it all really. As you mentioned Miles Davis has done some good stuff, I'm quite intrigued to know what Wu-Tang vs. Dixieland Jazz is all about, I dont think a lot of Daft Punk but might be interested in hearing what they do if I'm bored, and I've seen Goldfrapp and Fun Lovin Crims before and enjoyed both of them, so might be interested in checking out a set sometime.

Basically, if you think the level of discussion is so low, then please post about some of this stuff that you know of that is so good. Its a lot more productive than moaning and whatnot.

Pop is great when it's done well....Jim Noir, Beck, Hot Chip, Maximo Park, David Bowie, Jeff Buckley.

Their is both good pop and shit pop. I'd say Scissor Sisters just fall into the shit pop categorary. although not by a country mile - They are a damn sight better than a lot of shitty poop acts on the market. I used them as an example btw, and if you read my earlier post my initial rant was a generalisation of this particular forum and not directly aimed at conflict. (the set poster)

And just for the record...Daft Punk are shit hot. Another example of fine pop.
