The new release TAFKABO - Foolish Artistic Aspirations estabilishes this label as the only hardstyle label that is 100% original in my opinion - all their stuff is unique, other people copy them which is something other labels should aspire to.

...I have just taken the time to listen to this track (both mixes) and I have got to say...How the fu*k can you say this is "pretty unique"? It's a blatent rip off of a classic, and it doesnt even sound good IMO! This has to be one of the most "middle of the road" tunes I have ever heard! And don't get me wrong, I like 59 Records, but this sucks... :evil:

I will take a listen to most types of music mate, and I own 2 of the 59 Records. (Kicks & Bass, and Only Kicks, I think thats what they are called?) The 1st time I ever heard a 59 Record was when Uberdruck chucked one into a hardtrance set at The Grove in Seaton, and it caught my attention. Since then I have checked out most of the releases on that label. I flick through all the hardstyle and hardtrance releases in record shops I visit, but always leave with techno & hardtrance. This hardstyle just doesnt do very much for me. I will listen to it, but it doesnt interest me in the way techno & hardtrance does. This latest 59 Records is poo IMO though. And thats just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Well, guess I was wrong on this one, i've never heard this tune on Noom that it samples, what is the name of it? Is it just small samples of the tune that it uses? I gather that the bassline and structure isn't the same which is sort of more what I was making reference to more than anything.

its Commander Tom's Are am Eye, and its a fu*king CLASSIC! it was released on Noom (maybe even a label before that, im not sure?) and also Additive. there has been loads of bootlegs (including a stupid 'You killed Kenny' southpark version) and last week a new updated version for 2003 with remixes from Lazard (Uberdruck init?) and K-Lab and / or Reloop.

...by the way, im all for updates if they are done well, but this tune is such a classic that i would rather someone just made the kick & bass a more PHAT and didnt touch the rest.

Well, the re-release is worth it to me then - I never liked Are Am Eye, I only ever heard it a few times though, so didn't recognise the sample. I like this version though!

They do some original things with the structure true, and the more of this kind of 'surprising' hardstyle structure the better. Rather than the usual:

'massive snare & sample loop build-up > massive kick & sample loop build-up > silence > ... sample >... bassline'

at least this doesnt try and make you cream your pants every 2 minutes, but its not the most ground-breaking ive heard from 59 records, but a step in the right direction. hardstyle will VERY QUICKLY go the way of hardhouse if producers dont start adopting this more 'reserved' approach to using the massive bass and kick sounds that are now possible. its getting too 'in-your-face', whereas i love this kind of tune to break up the relentless beats.
