can anyone recommend any bands in this genre?

i am a huge tool/apc fan, but beyond that I'm not sure where to look.
i recently found out about ISIS, whom i really like as well.
basically, I'm looking for stuff like ISIS. melodic at times, heavy as f*ck other times, minimal amount of vocals, unless they can come close to maynard.

basically, i can not stand metal vocals. most of the music I hear is good, then some douche comes in screaming his head off and ruins it for me.
examples...... meshuggah, kitty, killswitch engage, candiria, etc. i love the beats, but i hate the vox

anyone got any sugestions?
much appreciated.

S.O.D. and M.O.D. (Method of Destruction) are almost a novelty act. Outstanding oldschool metal/hardcore/thrash tracks with laughable lyrics. Billy Milano is quite a character. A true New York hard rock icon.

My recommendation is for you to check out Cave In from Boston. A former deathmetal/hardcore band that gets proggier every album. Great lyrics and not much shouting. They do shout, but it's maybe 1 line on an album and it's for effect not as a style. Their Antenna album is their best imo, with Jupiter being close behind. Their oldest album Beyond Hypothermia is pure metal with prog tendencies. Lots of e.p.s and comp appearances. Check out the Bad Brains tribute they appeared on. They did a cover of I love I Jah (reggae song) which is unregognisable exept for the lyrics. It's a 9 minute epic cover of a 3 minute song that disintigrates into white noise greatness at the end. Absolutely masterfull.

Yeah bro, pelican is dope. very similar to isis, but entirely instrumental.
thats exactly what im lookin for. i've heard people refer to this sound as "sludge metal". slow chuggy stuff with alot of palm muting and unconventional time signatures.

i checked out cave in's myspace tracks and i wasnt really feelin it, but i will check out the album snooch recommended.

im also gonna check for old man gloom, thanks for the suggestions fellas.
