Personally i can see the potential benefits, but i can't get over how shoddily designed it is and how many perverts there are on it.

I must admit i'm very tempted to design my own version going to the very core of what myspace SHOULD be doing right.

yeah a better designed one could do well, but the costs would be pretty high wouldn't they ?

Like you say, myspace seems to be full of people wanting to get off with each other, but there's also some worth to it, it's another way of keeping in touch with friends etc.

The main benefit is it's free, so it helps undiscovered new artists get a place on the net.

Im on there, but as i have nothing to promote, i just use it to keep in touch with a couple of long distance friends, and look out for any new exciting music

just dont go to the porno star pages, and errr youl be ok. There's a very healthy techno network on there, techno groups etc etc. Ive personally found it one of the best free networking tools a person could wish to have. Ive found great new music through it, had tracks signed to labels from hooking up with people on there, sorted out remix swaps etc etc

just dont presume its going to save a persons music career straight off and you'l be ok with it i think

certainly better than NOT having it

From a professional ICT point of view, Myspace is the beginning of new generation online applications called Web 2.0. It's a set of all possible communication technologies merged together.

- Networking
- IM (instant messaging)
- VOIP
- Blogging
- PDA
- Portals
- Webservices
- WebAcces everywhere...

I've heared some people telling me Myspace works crappy sometime.. But understand it's just the beginning of the new generation online. The new hype will be platform independent Web 2.0 on Service Oriented Architecture.

I find it very usefully. Made some good contacts and got some gig offers via it. Plus its always good to get people who might otherwise not to listen to you music

I Must say that from our point of view (I´m located at São Paulo, Brazil) Myspace is a very usefull toll and it help us a lot to build a international network. We are starting our own label and it would be far harder without myspace.

Useful if you take the time to use it. Requires a bit of work to get the best out of it though....

It's been good for me. Particularly useful for connecting with people to collaborate with, staying in touch with old friends, and for getting the name out there a little more.

It probably won't save the world but it has helped me get some gigs..

It has it's uses... Quite a lot of folk round here use it just as an e-mail thing which I've kinda fallen into as it's quite useful to keep up with what people get up to.

The bonus is quite a few people who vaguely know me and have yheard my music, but havn't made the connection that's it's me have got in touch via there.

And had some good natters about tunew with people all over
