POWER RANKINGS
Current Team Previous
1 Chargers · Trends 1
They have emerged as the class of the league. They can run it, throw it and they can play defense. But there's always the Marty Schottenheimer playoff curse.
2 Ravens · Trends 3
If they can get the type of quarterback play they got from Steve McNair down the stretch, they will be tough to beat.
3 Bears · Trends 5
They are still the class of the NFC. If Rex Grossman can get it going again, they will be the Super team. Devin Hester is special.
4 Saints · Trends 8
The offense is playing really well, but some of that was expected. The shock is the defense. Gary Gibbs is doing a nice job with his unit.
5 Colts · Trends 2
Did you hear? The Jacksonville trainer just ran for 120 against the Colts defense. That has to be fixed in the final three games. Can it be?
6 Patriots · Trends 4
We'll call that a mulligan at Miami. Even with the loss, they have a two-game lead with three to go in the division.
7 Bengals · Trends 9
They're coming on strong. But we'll know more about them in the next two weeks when they play at Indy and at Denver.
8 Jaguars · Trends 10
They dominated the Colts. If history is an indicator, they will struggle with the Titans. If they do, they could blow their season.
9 Cowboys · Trends 6
Did the Tony Romo bubble burst? Or was that a one-game setback against the Saints? They face a tough road test at Atlanta on Saturday night.
10 Seahawks · Trends 7
At 8-5, they're basically in the playoffs. But they have to use the next three weeks to get right -- or else it will be a one and done.
11 Giants · Trends 14
Was that a season-saver at Carolina? It sure seemed like it. Now they get their rivals, the Eagles, at home.
12 Eagles · Trends 15
Jeff Garcia has played much better than expected, which is why the Eagles are still alive. Do they have enough to beat the Giants on the road?
13 Chiefs · Trends 11
Two consecutive losses have really hurt the Chiefs' playoff chances. Now they have to win at San Diego to have a chance. Good luck.
14 Broncos · Trends 12
Think Mike Shanahan is questioning going to Jay Cutler? Two losses have the Broncos reeling. What has happened to the defense?
15 Falcons · Trends 16
Two consecutive road victories have the Falcons back in the playoff hunt. But they can't afford a home loss to the Cowboys.
16 Jets · Trends 13
They were on the fast track to the playoffs. The Bills ruined that by beating them at home. That will sting. Now they hit the road to face a Vikings team that is still alive.
17 Dolphins · Trends 18
At 6-7, they're still breathing -- barely. But that defense is really playing well.
18 Vikings · Trends 20
Too bad they can't play the Lions every week. At 6-7, they're still alive with the Jets coming to town.
19 Titans · Trends 19
Vince Young-mania is sweeping the nation. Now he gets a chance to get even with the Jaguars, a team that made him look ordinary a little over a month ago.
20 Panthers · Trends 17
They're on their way to being one of the biggest disappointments in the league. It's still hard to believe they can't stop anybody.
21 Steelers · Trends 22
We buried them weeks ago, but they've risen from the dead. They face a tough road test in Carolina.
22 Bills · Trends 24
Dick Jauron is doing a nice job with this young team. And J.P. Losman is improving. Watch out in 2007.
23 Packers · Trends 28
The fact they can bounce back from tough losses to upset teams is a good sign for coach Mike McCarthy. They're still fighting.
24 Cardinals · Trends 27
Matt Leinart's progress is a good sign for next year's coach. Whoever takes over this team will be inheriting a lot of talent.
25 Rams · Trends 21
The early optimism from the good start has faded quickly. They don't have enough talent on the defensive side of the football and it shows.
26 49ers · Trends 23
Three weeks ago, they were talking playoffs. Three consecutive losses have them thinking about 2007.
27 Browns · Trends 25
Maybe this week they'll actually show up. They certainly didn't in Pittsburgh last Thursday, which isn't a good thing for Romeo Crennel.
28 Texans · Trends 26
It had to sting to lose to Vince Young. The next three games will decide if David Carr will come back, and if not, passing on Young was a major mistake.
29 Buccaneers · Trends 29
They haven't scored a touchdown in 11 quarters. That doesn't seem right for a Jon Gruden-coached team.
30 Redskins · Trends 30
Remember all that preseason optimism inside the beltway? Based on what the coaches are making, the five victories are pretty damn expensive.
31 Raiders · Trends 31
Wonder what the snoop inside the building thought about this week's game? Maybe we'll call to find out. Just kidding, Art.
32 Lions · Trends 32
Does Mike Martz still think Jon Kitna is the quarterback for the future? They can't get Brady Quinn fast enough.
