Resistor: Extremely High Electronic Resistance

Resistor Records is a new webshop that delivers the best in innovative cutting edge electronic music.

A culmination of years of international dealings on the underground electronic music scene, Resistor Records is here to allow you the focus to the great music we get our hands on.

We have an unusual stance in that we dont really intend to bring you every single brand new record that is released every week. Instead we intend to offer you the golden nuggets from as many of the worlds distributors as possible. Couple that with direct dealings with some of the worlds best and most inspiring labels, offering entire back catalogues and focussed releases. We want to hit the mark with you a lot more often, rather than just offer every record that floods the market. Art means more to us than fashion.

Dealing in niche market electronic music, and not scared to provide music from the darker corners of art, or the more artistic edges of commercial acceptability, there should be wealth of hot releases here for any keen elelctronic music enthusiast. From the heady heights of full on minimal techno, to the sultry depths of experimenal micro sound, there is such a wide variety of textures that will be avaialble to you. We hope you'll come and browse much more than you originally intended and yet still see a general theme of high quality and electronic sincerity that pervades through each release we choose to stock.

So for our launching event it seems only right that we should invite some of the biggest brightest names in electronic music to lay waste to this city!

Taking place at a new warehouse venue on WATER STREET in Birmingham city centre, 15 minutes walk from New Street station and 5 minutes walk from Birmingham Snow Hill station. Its location right next to the reknowned SUBWAY CITY club will make it an easy one to find for Birminghams clubbers.

Our brand new resident is none other than MARY ANNE HOBBS from Radio One's Breezeblock show.

We're proud to have her on board and know that she'll pick out the dubz of sub to show Birmingham why she's the hottest and most experimental DJ on radio one since the late John Peel.
Now a prolfic DJ, pioneering new genres, and being a beacon for a slightly overlooked scene in a commercial world.

Accompanying her on the evening is MIKE PARADINAS.

Having released on WARP, REPHLEX and creating his own world renowned label, PLANET MU, Mike has always pushed the boundaries and evolution of electronic music to the max with a heavy dose of experimentalism. MARY has recently released her WARRIOR DUBZ compilation on PLANET MU to rapturous reviews.

Complimenting the two heavy hitters is MILANESE.

Originally from London but now living in Birmingham, he shot to fame when he released his 1UP album on the mighty WARP label. Since then his feet haven't touched the ground as EP after EP have slain the crowds and his prolific sets have proved devastating.

Our guests alone are a spectacle worth hearing. But the residents also hold a wealth of musical talent at their fingertips to feel confident to appear next to such big reknowned names as they have many many times before.

Namely, the Resistor residents for the Electro/Electronica/Junglist/IDM edge of performances we present are:

TERRORBYTE

graphic designner, philosopher and key protagonist of the 'fht' website. His sounds have evolved rapidly, from his early roots in techno, to encompass and manipulate the widest breadth of music as the electronic banner leaves open to the open mind. He has played for Resistor shows and Capsule over the past 10years, as well as hosting many parties himself.

SIMPLEX

one part of the 5% nation of casiotone, simplex has been another staunch face on the alternative elctronic scene. A prolific musician, he is just about gethering up his tracks to be released following the Kracktronik release he completed along with Jade One and Sal Volatile. He has also played for Resistor and Capsule as well as hosting many other parties around the city.

JADE ONE

Jade One is where audio scientist meets sonic sculptor. Another prolific musician, graphic designer, patch author, and creative whirlwind, Jade One only writes new sets toplay live. Tailoring every set bespoke to the occassion, his vow is to never use a sound he hasnt generated himself. There are no samples, no loops, just crafted audio created from silence. Another member of the 5% Nation of Casiotone. He has also played for Capsule when they have been hosting relevant artsits for him to compliment.

and

SUBCITIZEN

The man behind Resistor, sadly distracted from as much musical releases as he would like, but bursting forward with the Resistor torch, he has got himself and his allies in a unique position. A consummately professional and instinctive DJ, he has always impressed and moved crowds by introducing new angles to sounds they thought they where familiar with. With these shows, he wants to let Birmingham see what else lies at the under-belly of electronic music.

Visuals on the evening will be provided by CHROMATOUCH

equally as prolific as the other musical based artists. Chromatouch has been on the arts and music scene for many years providing tailored entertainment to compliment the music that is being played. Here he should feel right at home.

Pls tell your friends :)
