must say that this set is pathetic...
that is one of the worst styles of watered down trance i have ever heard...
not my cup of tea...
bunter was always a gimp. ruined the technodrome...
his old happy days were ok... but he lost it.

in my opinion, people like Bunter got better post-97, mind you i havn't heard this set.
Also, Ramos played some good sets post-97, when he dipped into Techno for a while.

I remember reading a ramos interview in the old M8 magazine in 1997. They gave up playing happy hardcore for ages on 96/97 new years eve as they said it had gone stale (which it had!). Ramos started playing acid techno and bunter was playing more of the old GBT stuff with hard trance. He played some good sets tho in the main arenas but that set in question is pretty poo tho imo.

Their imagination NYE sets were very good. His old happy gabber was good too. I'll upload some of those soon... I remember going to the decadance night (technodrome) and he was absolutely rubbish. killed the atmosphere totally. it was not hardcore in any way and a laurent garnier set would have been better received than the one he put out that night. proper slow, boring and progressive is not even the word. the fact he makes hard house and other crap tells you a lot about this guy anyway. why was he ever in the technodrome? stick him in the house room. that's all he is worth. decadance was a terrible night... full of cheese until scorpio came on at 2am (from what i remember)... I expected banging frantic hardcore and what i got in return was camoflauged house music until i was ready to sleep when the real hardcore came on post 2am...

yeah the decadance event wasnt the best skelter. Other than Billy Bunters set you mentionned, Loftgroover played d&b and clarkee played a weak acid set. There was a moody atmosphere too in the technodrome think i noticed it more as i was pretty straight that night.
I remember someone collapsing next to me at the start of the mark eg set and no one did **** all. I was trying to get ribbz's attention for ages until he got the security. Presume the kid was ok...

you remember those girls dressed as fairies? always hitting people with their wands... grrr...
yes, very moody night... full of chavs and losers. that was always the problem with hardcore... it always attracts those of the worst upbringing

well iv'e never been to any of the big events before, eg Skelter, Dreamscape.
Looking back, even thought i hadn't been to one, i always wondered how they managed to pull off multi-style music rooms without some sort of conflict.
I mean, bunging D&B in with hardcore, and then switching over on the hour.
That must of pissed everybody off.

there were always problems... chavs, gypsies, some groups purposefully wanting to send people on the para...lager louts fuelled with 'i think i'm ard charlie'.... plenty of problems at most nights...everyone looks happy when they first come up... then it all changes.
shame really because the music does not warrant it at all. i tried to get plenty of people to come to events but their reasons for abstaining were always to do with the reasons i just stated above.

That was always the problem. Towards the end the skelters had more and more idiots there.
Kinds lost their appeal to me and stopped going

Don't know how I missed this thread, it makes interesting reading. I've spent the last couple of weeks regretting not being there (too busy bringing up young kids). Now not so sure............

I fcuking loved all the skelters I went to but the one I mentioned earlier just wasnt as good as the others.
Course there was a scally element but 90% of people were just up for a party.

I went to a load of the bigger events pre- 99/00, and noticed a major, major change towards the end... seriously when the younger element of the local crew (from near where I live, Im not gonna say the name of the place, coz it could get me in trouble, but it must be mentioned on every single helter skelter tape ever) anyway, when they startin goin to the big events (especially skelter) they did go to see how many pills each other could have and bascially cause trouble - I sat on coaches with these lads (and even some of the girls) and they'd be plannin how thye were gonna have people off when they got there.
And imagination was an amazing night... Ramos and bunter were good, but best set of the night???
Supreme & MC Marley.... loved that RSR happy sound, kind of a cross-over between the happy sound and the trance sound. ****in loved that Terminator 2 tune.
Also the first night I heard the 'Mark EG' chant... was this the origin of it??? Anybody hear it pre imagination???
