What is in your general opinion your favorite track/record label/producer for 2003?

Please state reasons:

Thanks

Dez

Track : Bitchslave by Leo Laker ( Knedeep) ( all four tracks have great hooks in them )
Record Label : Compound ( just the sheer variety of output)
Producer : Its a tie between DjAmok / Sven Wittekind.

Hmm no not really. There has been some bright lights (Reeko, Exium, Makaton) but mostly it has been fodder.

Not to mention the whole Integrale story.

I will remember 2003 with a lump in my chest.

i will not. it has been a good year for me personally musicwise and heard best techno so far, but reduced in quantity.

It's been a bit of a silent year...good news wise. I think 2004 should be very interesting with the change of hands in distribution and artists. The calm before the storm? you decide.

In terms of hard techno, we have seen some names starting to produce a lot more. Dean Rodell putting out alot of stuff, Patrick Skoog destroying the shit out of us and Sven Wittekind and Robert Natus putting out new records every other day of the week.
I think that sound is progressing a little bit. I think in 2003 we have seen that the hard techno is getting much more evil!!! Never have I heard hard techno like the Bitshift stuff and the Nightmare Stuff.
It seems that we have done pretty well this year me thinks! Hope by the end of next that I can have a few out myself!!

Peace

All you need is belief in yourself and what you do. I remember two years ago when I sent out demos to labels and was told "this is not banging enough" or "this is too weird".
I felt quite down for that but kept struggling and managed to get a distribution deal with Integrale so I could start my own label.
And now two years later I have (will) release/-d on several of the labels that I could only dream of!

I guess what I want to say is...

**** what people tell you and MAKE NO COMPROMISES!

Seen two of the best sets I've ever seen this year at London parties: geezer at Anti-world and some boke in a bobble hat at a party.
London techno collective are releasing phat tunes every week.

Top year.

My fave producer 4 2003 would have to be Alexander Kowalski - his "Response" album is ****ing wicked... Yes, it's more "accessible" but the production, arrangements and sounds are out of this world... Also some great stuff by Diego - definetly a good year for Kanzleramt. Other phat stuff - Southsoniks - Ars longa on Scandium - what an amazing EP with the swirling synths and electro-ish breakbeats! Blew me away...

Opinions?

indeed!!! its time for a change as things rebuild and the dust settles. next year will see a lot more activity. i'm listening to cds now which arent coming out until late spring and many people know whats waiting in the wings. i personally fell very optimistic, but its been the most acutely ****ed situation i've been in.

label: zhark
record: bitstream on modern love
producer: volsoc. they went straight to the top of the electro tree. nice one guys.
