Hi all!

I have a recorded speech sample from a DVD (in WAV) which I want to use, but there is a slight background noise from the film which I want to get rid of so I'm left with a clean vocal... is there a way of cleaning it up? Are there any free plug-ins out there which can do this, or am I stuck with the sample how it is?
I've tidied it up as best as I can with a wave editor but it's still not as crisp as I'd like it.

Waves do a few plugins.. X Noise and X Hum... they can make it sound a bit lo fi but if done right can work ok

For a start I`d use a noise gate to cut the sound between the speech nicely.
Combine this with some fine tuned EQ to pull out at least some of the nastier frequencies.

The noise gate will do the most for you though.
