THE LEGENDARY METALHEADZ SUNDAY SESSIONS ARE BACK! SUNDAY 30th Sept
Originally hosted at the Blue Note in Hoxton in the mid 90s, Goldie’s Metalheadz Sunday Sessions shaped the drum and bass scene and turned it into a media phenomenon. Many tracks that defined the scene got their first plays in the sweaty basement, cheered by an open-minded, enthusiastic crowd.
Since the closure of the mythic venue in 1998, Metalheadz have hosted successful nights throughout London and the world (their Hanover Grand nights getting ‘Best Club’ at the first MOBO awards) but never recaptured the unique atmosphere of the original nights.
This time, in the intimate surroundings of Clockwork!, the new, bi-weekly Sunday sessions are aiming to bring back the pioneering, cutting edge vibe of the original sessions: this won’t be the place to hear the current drum and bass top 10. Instead, DJs will be encouraged to play as they wish and experiment on a lush 7K sound system.
For the opening night, Goldie has gathered a dream line-up with all the original soldiers, including DJs Grooverider, Goldie, Doc Scott, Fabio, Randall, Storm and Bailey with MCs Moose and Rage. Exceptionally, the night will go on till 2am at the cost of £8 and with food served till 10pm.
