View Full Version : The Great 'Whatever Happened To... ?' Hunt.

I just posted a 'Whatever happened to Russ Gabriel' topic and it made me think. Loads of us probably want to know what happened to a fave producer/DJ or label of ours. Why don't we make a thread where we can all draw on each others knowledge and find out?

If you have a name you need to know about, post it here.

And if you know what happened to someone posted about here, or have some nice links to knowledge, please reply!

I'll start the ball rolling:

Whatever happened to Stanny Franssen?
Whatever happened to Zzino?
Whatever happened to DJungle Fever?
Whatever happened to Smi)e?
Whatever happened to Experimental?
Whatever happend to Synewave?
Whatever happened to Labworks?

Whatever happened to..... ???????

Let's find some answers!!! :)

Stanny Franssen:

Still releasing stuff. Has had releases on Harthouse Digital and Upstruct this year. Is pretty tech house / electro / minimal sounding now. His website is: http://www.stannyfranssen.com/sf/index2.html There's plenty of info there.

Zzino:

He hasn't released anything since 2005. There are two websites listed for him, so check out here for some answers: http://www.zzino.net/ and http://www.myspace.com/zzino

DJungle Fever:

Again, no releases on this label since 2005, but try this myspaz address: http://www.myspace.com/djunglefever

Synewave:

I think the label's gone digital, as there have been no vinyl releases since early 2006. Mind you there were only two digital releases from the label in late 2006, and has been nothing since. The last Damon Wild release was a digital download. Try these websites for more info: http://www.synewave.com/ and http://www.myspace.com/damonwild

Same as Mark, I'd love to know what happened to Labworks. Anyone got any info on the label and what happened to it?

Gaetek played here 2 weeks ago. Dont know if it was minimal as I was not there.

Umek played here few months back. It was bit elektro minimalistic set, he calls it "astro disco". not my cup of tea...

When Tracid Traxx stopped putting out records, he switched over to making hardstyle, on labels like Blutonium, and Straight On Black under his real name Thilo. Really awful stuff as well IMO. Used to love his productions on Tracid.

Damon Wild, see the Synewave post near the top.

Acid Scout (aka Richard Bartz) can be found here: http://www.myspace.com/richardsbartz

He's still making techno, although he hasn't released anything this year. Late 2006 was his last one on Kurbel. This is his style now: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/206048-01.htm&highlight=richard%20bartz

Laidback Luke: Can be found here http://www.laidbackluke.com/. He's now producing lots of Electro House with people like Axwell, and a fair few remixes for Steve Angello. He's sounding like this now:

TOP TIP: When looking information on an artist / label / etc; just use Discogs and follow link's around until you get information you require about said artist / label / etc.

few names from me:

Pete Skank - ???

Lasse Stern - he moved more into trance music actually but heard he has still a lot unreleasd acidcore/hardcore music from old days. Lasse please back!

Frank Muller aka Beroshima - last "horizon" tune released on cocoon (after years!) its one of my fav record in 2007. Hope this experienced producer will show more in near future.

Holger Wick aka Hoschi - legend producer, great releases on labworks and other labels. Someone know anything about his incoming projects ?

Pete Skank - ???

Spoke to Pete a few months ago, and bought some mint copies of the Headcases & BAWOP's off of him. He's back into the heavy metal, and gigging with his band. He was shocked to see how much some of his records go for on Discogs & eBay! He's doing ok, and doesn't plan to get back into the acid techno scene.
