hi hi hi

Need to buy a laptop to replace production PC, so need to get a firewire soundcard and a decent laptop that will run everything without having a heart attack.

Mainly run cubase and reason, will look to expand into ableton.

Don't want a Mac. Need the option of "borrowing" software on trial basis, and haven't figured out how to do this on a mac.

Not keen on dell either.

Pointers gratefully received.

The vostro range has the right sort of spec's and is in a nice price bracket.

I was about to purchase one, but built a new workstation insted

I'm a bit wary of dell. They build in obscelence and source components as cheaply as possible, and are flexible on the QA of components.

For all I know so does everyone else, but I know a bit more about how dell operate.

Possible.

But i depends on what you want, and how much you want it for.

Thats why i decided to just build a quad core home pc, and thought i leave the lappy for a while

I recently got a Toshiba - would recommend them for laptops.

stick with toshiba, compaq or ibm, get one with as much RAM as you can afford, a dedicated graphics card and a core 2 duo cpu.
