Dirty's comments on the room compensating JBLs got me wondering why someone doesn't make a plugin to run on a DAW to correct room acoustics.

And, happily someone else is waaaay ahead of me

So.... anyone know of a freeware version I can use with my SM58?

In principal, I can't imagine it would be that complicated. Microphone response can be calibrated, room response calibrated, EQ overlay added....

The only problem i see with this, is that it will be done on the output of your DAW sequencer.

So if you want to listen to a cd or record to compare sound levels they might not have the same room correction.

This is what i like about the JBL system, is everything you listen to will be correct.

But indeed im quite intrested in this stuff too, let me know how you get on?

True, but it takes away the need to buy JBLs.
Which I like, cos I just spent nearly a grand on my mackies :)

Well yes this is a barrier of course!! :)

I knew i was in a shit acoustic room as im back at parents for a while.

Hence I went for the jbl. They are amazing without the Room mode correction.

But with it, omg i just did a sex wee
