Looks like the plans for the new stadium will have to be drawn up again.
Standard will be 70,000 as opposed to the 60,000 with the option to build an extra 10,000.
After scouring the net the general consensus why this decision has been made is the fact that a larger than normal percentage of the stadium was and is designed to built by steel.
The price of steel across the globe is astronomical and at present if these plans used the company would have to tender for such a large amount of steel to be made. Estimations are an extra £200 million plus with the prices of steel at the mo, as yuo have to pay todays prices not tomorrows.
And also a huge factor is possibly the Americans are even more weary due to how badly the dollar is doing globally. This coupled with the price of steel has put them off and back to drawing board.
The huge steel roof over the kop and i presume steel back and glass panes will probs go.
