just got the full version of this a few weeks ago along with a new m-audio sound card.

sound is stunning and some of the plug-ins are unreal.

mixer routing is unreal. just set up a bus and send your channel anywhere.

only problems are that im finding the midi a little rough and im still writing most midi in cubase & the lack (and price) of RTAS plug-ins.. (although i have a few @semi-legal@ rtas, now that ive spent on protools it would be nice to get some legit plugs aswell!!!)

any one point me in the direction of rtas freebiees? need a stereo width enhancer and an exciter and a few other bits and bobs..

chris?

You're peeing against the breeze if you want free rtas plugs baz. Digidesign tightly control the licensing for the format.

Best off looking elsewhere...

see me on msn mate.

got it cheap with the sound card and a few plug-ins..

probably gonna compose in cubase and mix in pro tools.. see how it goes. the compressors in protools are lovely.. the mcdsp collection is tough to beat for sound.

you can get a plugin to convert VST to RTAS :)

im looking for pro tools, but not sure if that or logic, to be used with mac, get like a 20% because im a student, is the m-powered software-wise the same as the other versions?

Depends what your other needs are. If you want to record multiple inputs you'll need either an Mbox2 or Mbox2mini and an outboard mixer, or if you dont and dont need mdi ports for a synth then you can use the mbox2mini.

its cheap, comes with PT and a decent ignition pack full of free stuff.

the convertors on the mbox series are pretty good as well and they're a whole lot cheaper than the maudio ones.

Pro-tools cards are just soundcards and work with any program under osx, i run logic 8 and Ableton and system sounds etc with my mboxes without any problems whatsoever.
