Biography Dave Tarrida:

Dave Tarrida's 16-year Techno career began in 1991 at Edinburgh Scotland's legendary Sativa Sound System. Selling his Fender Mustang and Marshall amp to buy turntables, Dave's DJing and creative input at Sativa gained the Scottish scene worldwide status from its DJs and guests including Irvine Welsh, respectfully tipping his hat at Sativa in "Malibu Stork Nightmare". Love for the music and pure vision maintained the club's powerful following and strong say within the UK scene with acts like the Scottish debuts of Dave Clarke and a then unknown Cristian Vogel in his first-ever live set, further Sativa achievements included the British debuts of Claude Young, DJ Hell, Electric Indigo, Adam X and most notably the first-ever live shows of 'local guys' Neil Landstrumm and Tobias Schmidt. Dave's DJing brought him into the early-90s free party circuit, travelling and playing Northern Europe but returning to Edinburgh in 1993 to set up his Sativae label with Sativa co-organizer Steve Glencross. Today Sativae's cult output not only highlights Dave's vital hand and ear within the scene but still narrates the most important chapters in UK underground Techno history, mirrored by the debut release from Neil Landstrumm as part of Blue Arsed Fly with Cristian Vogel, the three vital Tobias Schmidt EPs and other capital releases from artists Subhead, Jamie Lidell (Super_Collider), Justin Berkovi and most recently Tube Jerk (aka Tim Wright). The label's extensive discography also reflects the broad-based nature of Dave's interest in Techno, as DJ Hell and Americans Adam X and Chance McDermott also feature strongly in the backcatalog. The Sativa club nights ended in 1996 but got Dave more trans-Channel airtime in Europe and particularly Germany and Belgium, bringing his UK new school sound to audiences in all the veteran clubs including Tresor, Ultraschall, Stammheim, Douala, Prag, The Omen, Loop, Funky Green Alien, I.O. and Cube. Dave became a regular visitor to the US as well, touring NYC, the Midwest, and California with Neil Landstrumm and Tobias Schmidt. But after and between the parties, Dave slowly began to reveal his studio sides beginning in 1996 as 'Pujol' on Neil Landstrumm's "World Rallying" EP followed up by his Tresor debut with Tobias Schmidt on "The Test" EP. The first solo appearances began with top-notch imprints Mosquito, Predicaments and Sativae before his "Postmortem Pop" and "Scream Therapy" EPs on Tresor paved the way for his "Paranoid" debut album in 2001. "Paranoid" revealed not only good tunes, but the two sides to Dave Tarrida's character as well. There's the Dave Tarrida production side, defining his devoted adherence to pure sound: still extreme and on an experimental slant but reduced to a searching and deeper psychology in mind. But then there's the Dave Tarrida club DJ side... nasty Techno mixing a raging high-tech attack of Sheffield bleep sophistication with aggro-punk grooves from early Rave and basslines. It's well known that he plays raw and hard but undeniably funky so just for the fans he released his notorious "Plays Records" cd-mix (2001), put together like nobody else in the scene could and highlighting his ten-years of Techno floor experience. NOW --- Propelled by constant touring in continental Europe and Britain, Dave's regular appearances at massive techno festivals like Sonar and the Berlin and Mexico Love Parades have built him followings that brought him to Japan and Australia. His 1999 move to Barcelona has earned him area club residencies as well as a place in the sun between gigs ands traveling. With continuous output landing in compilation and remix work, including collaborations with Funk D Void ("Supa Hammer"), Tobias Schmidt ("Spanish Winter") and Cristian Vogel ("Big C"), The "Life's A Glitch" LP in 2003 , on Sativae Recs was followed by singles on Neue Heimat, germany, Dancefloor Killers from Toulouse to name a few. Some of the releases we can expect soon, are new epâ..¿½..¿½s for both Tresor, and Cristian Vogels new label, Sleep Debt Recs, as well as a remix of Chicks on Speed.--- M.Snow
