Biography Exium Live PA:

Exium, the electronic music duo of producers and performing artists, consists of Valent*n Corujo and Héctor Diaz Sandoval. Their musical careers have flowed together from their origins as djs back in 1994, playing as resident djs in small clubs in Asturias, Spain, to 1999 when they decided to start producing and form Exium.

Under this name they have recorded for the music label Zet Records and other top labels in Spain (Tsunami, Warm Up, Main Out, Rxxistance, Recycled Sound). The quality of Exium´s productions have led to their collaborations with first-class artists like Olga&Josef, Oscar Mulero and Christian Wünsch. These collaborations as well as their own can be heard frequently during the sets of today´s most popular djs, and their tracks have appeared on the charts of artists like Surgeon, Christian Wünsch, Oscar Mulero, Ben Sims, Dave Clarke, Gayle San, Angel Molina, Takaaki Itoh, Damon Wild, Inigo Kennedy, Pacou…

During the entire year of 2001 Exium was the resident DJ of the club Rocamar in Gijon. Exium has performed in various festivals and clubs like Phonotica 2000 and 2002, Technological 04, La Real, Scsi, One, Traffic (Amsterdam), Awakenings (Rotterdam) Octopuss, El Jard*n, La Terrrazza and Danzatoria. Exium has shared performance rosters with the best of house and techno music worldwide, and during 2003 they were part of the Warm Up Tour with Oscar Mulero.

The dynamic musical duo Exium created its first label, Kabarett Recordings in 2001. Kabarett Recordings focused on house and techno house styles, recorded under the name of Corujo&Sandoval. Its first releases generated rave reviews and earned the duo opportunities to release on other labels, including Nocturnal Noize (U.S.A) and New Era (Great Britain).

Among Exium´s most recent projects is the creation of its own label, Nheoma, where Corujo and Sandoval will be able to continue to add shape and definition to Exium´s style that has made them one of the best and most powerful live acts in Spain. Exium´s first reference is called “Sick of Promises;” the second, “Deadly Weapons” together with Oscar Mulero.

Exium’s music has naturally evolved from a minimalist sound to their current style mixing downtempo, electro and even pop, which has lead to the creation of a new label called FictionFilm. Besides its musical productions, Exium has worked with Fiumfoto, an Asturian graphic design and audiovisual group, on the soundtrack of various videos and short films. In these video projects, Exium combined experimental music, trip-hop, electro, electropop, etc…they were recognized with the “Nuevas Tendencias” award at the prestigious Villa de Bilbao contest.

The second part of the program we have another spanish techno offbeat, REEKO LIVE PA (MENTAL DISORDER) with his estupendous style.

Biography Reeko Live PA:

One of Spain’s most promising producers of techno music is Reeko. This native of Oviedo, Asturias, has managed to do what has taken other top djs years to accomplish—performances in Spain’s best clubs and recognition amongst Europe’s most exclusive techno scenes.

Reeko (Juan Rico, 1981) gained international popularity with his debut release Psychiatric Hospital, currently his highest selling record all over the world. He has shown his quality skills recording for emerging labels like Emergence, Integrale, Deafmosaic, Rxxistance, Trece, Main Out and Recycled Sound. Reeko has always been fascinated by the human mind and its capability to exert control over the body or the lack of control exerted. His dark and heavy style stems from this interest and was the inspiration for the name of his first label, Mental Disorder. This label is characterized by the artist´s dark and effective techno, and his live sets are heavy and reminiscent of the sounds coming out of Birmingham.

Reeko’s initial stages as a DJ date back to 1997 when, at the age of 17, he started playing at clubs in Asturias and León. In 1999 Reeko began to experiment with producing tracks from a home studio and developed the dark, aggressive sound for which he is currently identified.

The breaking point of Reeko’s career occurred around 2003 when he began to concentrate in his music with more fervor and stepped up his productions by adding more technology to his home studio. Reeko has been influenced by the intense sounds emerging from the likes of Birmingham, and he uses these influences to create his own industrial sound. Reeko captures and re-captures listeners by filling his live sets with a series of climatic points, adding a touch of organized chaos to his sound.

From this special sound combined with his fascination in the human psychosis, phobias and fears evolved the inspiration for his first label, Mental Disorder, the parent label of the aforementioned “Psychiatric Hospital”. On the market in March 2008, The Gravedigger and his Bitch (MD 09) is a 12” containing tracks with an analogue-like, old school sound--reminiscent of techno from the early nineties—mixed with the dark techno that Reeko and Mental Disorder are known for.

In Spain Reeko has played in Spain’s finest clubs like Florida135, La Real (Oviedo), Family (Toledo), Space (Madrid), Fabrik (Madrid) and Octopuss (Pontevedra), as well as in top music festivals like Live Dance Festival (Satisfaxion - Almer*a).

Reeko has also launched his performance career beyond Spain to venues in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hungary, Holland and Belgium. During his first ventures outside of Spain he has already shared the booth with some of the world’s most important techno DJs, all of which have praised Reeko for his musical innovations and carry his tracks in their bags.

Evidence and Emphatix are Reeko’s younger labels and have released three and one albums respectively. Evidence started in January 2005 and has been inspired by police investigations of brutal murder cases. His first reference “Sangre” gave a whole new industrial twist to his productions.

He is currently one of the most prestigious producers of Europe’s techno scene, and he has worked internationally for labels such as Theory, Main Out, Integrale, Muzique, Deafmosaic, Emergence, Inceptive, Rxxistance, Trece records, Infraestructure (New York).
