Did a quick search but no topics yet about producing a good bass.

In this topic you can put all your tips/ ideas/ questions about producing a good bass.

I ll kick off with how i do mine:
I usually have a synth running with a nice basspatch routed to a distortion (quadrafuzz on cubase works nice; just set the gain to about 4-5 db; lower the output a little and set it to a low to medium hard knee; not necesarry to use the eq part but you can of course) and then to a eq. The eq is used with about 4 small cuts on the resonating freqs. Very small q's and cuts of about 3 db. And i usually cut a little more 5-7db around 500 hz with a q that s a little bigger. Sometimes a little compression as well.

Ermmm - I usually load up a synth, **** about with it for ages until I stumble on something I like the sound of, construct a track around it then change it at the last minute! Either that or I make myself a brutal kick then try and find a bass sound that I can squeeze in.

the processing of the bass (eq & dist) is similar i can imagine for different basses (and styles). But the initial bass sound will make a difference in what it really sounds like. These examples are progressive and fullon psytrance. but it also works for minimal style tracks
I kind of know how to produce these basses. But would be interesting to get more people to explain how to produce different basses.

your seriously telling me there is no topics on bass on this site? unless ive been reading a different site all these years, there have been some corking threads with bass help, in particular from none other than our resident bass mechanic, Dirty Bass (the clue's in the name, huh?)

Supergroover, i take it you write techno music aswel as psytrance?

not really techno. but i do make some minimal electroish stuff with a friend. The reason i am checking this forum instead of just a 'psytrance' forum is because i would like to learn more than just he usual tricks from one genre.
