Can anyone recommend a really good free or not so free filter plugin for me?

well one of the best free ones i found for pure simplicity is betabugs crayon filter..

mind you, sonalksis tbk is beautiful but alas, it's not free. antares filter is incredible too...

oh and if you really want to have ya head done in, try audio damage 914 filterbank :)

thanks guys. im going to try all there tonight and ill post my findings. worth shelling out for a decent one but ill put them all to the sword first.

Another for TBK and Crayon Filter here, use them both but TBK is the main filter of choice now.

Frohmage is pretty damn good for free.

Easy on the resonance though.

i quite like fabfilter simplon for manual sweeps

very very easy on cpu

for lfo'd mangling i use fabfilter volcano.

IMO nobody else has come anywhere near their filters in terms of sound quality unless you start getting into high end rtas (mcdsp, massey etc)

@bmovie. I used to use minion and I *thought* it was good.
The interface is great with all those modulating filters but the sound quality is gash. It would be amazing to have some kind of hybrid of minion & frohmhage
