Just had a torrent running at 1Mbps.

Be are turning out to be a pretty good ISP.

Bit shit at getting you set up, but once you're there... it's like lightening.

Oh, incidentally, the new Firefox V3 beta is pretty nippy too.

I hate you all.

Although Firefox 3 (still Beta) is very fast.

1Mbps is not the same as 1MB per second.

MB = MegaByte, Mb = Megabit.

Data transmission rates are almost always measured in bits.

On individual downloads that's pretty good on anything up to a 5 Mbps line.

Yeah its cool :)

Thing is round here, the phone lines are aincient. 2Meg broadband is about the best you can hope for really. If you had anything more I doubt you would see much of an improvement.

NTL are Virgin in the UK now, and improvements seem to have been made.

It's not all milk and honey, but it sounds like it's better than it was.

It's UPC over here and it is getting worse and worse. The call centers are a pack of absolute gobshites too.

what you on about blindy man

I meant 1.3 MB hence the capitalisation

16Mbs runs around 1.3MB at max.

depends on the server of course.

There are 8 bits to the byte, so 16Mb would be 2MB wouldn't it?

If you're actually getting 1.3MBps from anything I'd be incredibly impressed.

I don't even get that here on a corporate backbone connection.

Thats precisely what ive had mark

From apples servers for the updates i get a 100mb file in less than 100seconds.

i had a 1Mbit connection and got 100k per sec,,, now i have a 16Mbit connection and get 1.5MegatBYTE per second.
