Personally, i would have to rate him as one of the hardest working men in techno today. My favorite producer then, now and in the future. He is a techno genious.

One of the few artists that puts out tracks rapidly, and yet the quality of each tune remains consistantly awesome.

Is there anyone who knows where i can find a bio on the man? Pounding grooves is my favorite artist, and i would love to see this man play live. Anyone see a live set from him? whats it like? i've seen him dj before and he is not that impressive, his track selection is awesome but his mixing is subpar. obviously its all about the live with this guy.

comments? stories? disagree? agree?

anyways

merry christmas

You can't really be asking that question here!
Dunster Rules, period. I don't want to hear any complaints or nothing about him. He is the f*cking law.

Someone on this forum and I mean SOMEONE has to have an mp3 of his live Pa. Other wise I will start randomly fighting people on the street if I don't get one. You can't fight Pounding Grooves 11. You Just can't.

i dont buy many "acid" techno records, but the few i do have are from immerson, i like him. some of his stuff doesnt sound out of place in a hard techno set.

Completely agree. His pounding grooves and routemaster tunes along with the vast number of collaborations such as Lochi with Chris Liberator show his dedication and talent. I think that Lawrie adds an original and very underground edge to british techno. Purge is still one of my all time favourate CDs. More please.

Lawrie is the DADDY!! Pounding grooves has remained relentless and fantastic, and no-one sounds like him. Even though he can be a moody old sod, I have nothing but respect for Lawrie, everything he does he does so well. He used to put on some of the best squat parties, in the days when I was a punter, his early acid on routemaster allways was harder and more intense than SUF and others. He is a wizard in the cutting room, and his live PA`s (which he still does) are slammin`.
And Techno Slut was way way way ahead of it`s time.

Long live Lawrie (all good things come in small packages)

Sounds like a potential title for a routemaster release...

They have some Laurie mix tapes in Banging Tunes and Trackheads - I think it might be from 2000 or 2001 but the one I have is phat. There a amazing tape of Chris Liberator at Anti-World in 2000 too. I'd wack them on MP3 but my tape deck sucks at the moment :(

i have to say im dead pleased with the job he has been doing cutting my tracks recently. We tried him out recently after using a couple of the other mastering houses and his cuts stood head and shoulders above the others. Jim is one happy boy since he became a customer of curved!

heard him play live the other month at headcharge in sheffield and he was absolutely awesome, quite slow for that night (approx 140 bpm) but totally slamming it ...
i had been toying with the idea of getting a nord micro modular and lawrie had one out with him ... had a few words with him about it, and the word fantastic stood out - i got one the next week and it is, so i am glad i had the chance to ask ...

however, i was a little bit annoyed when we specifically booked him to cut CYT 01 (for me there was no option but to use curvepusher, as i'm sure you'll all agree it is THE acid techno cutting suite) and he left to go get his hair cut when we arrived ... ended up working with Ash (phase) who is a top fella and did a spotless job, so no complaints in the end but i thought it was a bit off really ...

is there any way to find a discography of pounding grooves? like who did what and who colaberated on what

i know ignition technition did 21

henry and lawrie did 23

and im pretty damn sure 24 isnt lawrie cause it is not his style

i think geezer did one as well

davethedrummer

?
i'm sure i posted something up here the other day
explaining ( and also complaining a bit) about the colaborrations
maybe i lunched it out
or maybe it was a bit rude
i didn't mean it to be rude if it was
anyway i was trying answer questions about techno slut an that.

it was started by lawrei but ended unfortunatley 'cos it didn't sell enough
it was pretty much all collaborations
a few of lawries early solo techno trecks
and collabs wiith me chris and guy

then pounding grooves started with a stronger concept
and the first were nearly all collaborations with myself and guy
the wilko joined in for a while and there has been the odd wild card
but basically lawrie features on every release in some way
and that's how it's retained his sound

the ones i can rememeber collaborating one were
5,8,11, god y'know i can't remeber i'll have to listen to them
but anyway last thing i did was 29
guy did the first 3 with lawrie and they invented that boomy kik drum thing
i remember that.
thats about it.
