i know u can get audacity free online, so i was wondering what hardware id need to do this?

all you need is a soundcard with an input and the correct lead.

if you're using the computers onboard soundcard (usually an ac'97 or similiar) this is what you'll need

its called a "mini jack to phono"

if you're using a USB or firewire external soundcard (or pro internal) the lead you need will depend on your inputs.

just an external sound card. i use this one:

it's the only one i've ever used, so i can't compare it to anything, but it does a great job.

Most laptops only have mic in - which is mono but does work ok. External sound card will give you stereo line in.

Download Audactiy free, get the cable Baz is on about, hook it up check your levels hit record and fill yer boots.

could you recommend where i buy these from? wana make sure i get the right ones.
