The mighty Surface Records returns following the passing of the legendary Richard Polson. This EP is the first in a series of tributes from friends of Surface or the 65d Mavericks. Surface was one of the main labels forging the new wave of UK techno in the mid to late nineties running alongside Blueprint, Downwards and Counterbalance.

The passing of Richard was a great loss, but the legacy he left will continue to move people for years to come. Golden Age is a timeless club track from the legendary Surgeon vs Outline (Antony Child, Richard Polson & James Ruskin). Originally jammed live in the studio in 1997, this track finally sees the light of day after an official re-rub from the master Surgeon himself. Smoke is a new track from Oliver Ho/Raudive, capturing the classic warehouse sound of the late eighties. Oliver released his first record on Surface, and it's great to see him come back to pay such an excellent tribute to one of his good friends. Disease Through Affection is the much sought after classic by the legend that is Regis. Originally intended for release on Surface way back in the day, and then mis-pressed on only a handful of copies of a release on Downwards, Karl decided it was only fitting to finally give it it's first full release for this project. Beginnings End is another new track continuing the current trend of the 65d Mavericks for deep melodic melancholy - this track was written especially for the ep, and is a very personal tribute from Nick to Rich. The track title says it all. For every end there is a beginning and this new beginning for Surface and the 65d Mavericks sees them continuing to push their own brand of futuristic electronica forward...

In the near future expect some special guests and more importantly some very special music, including tracks by Ben Sims, Vince Watson, James Ruskin, Claude Young, and more. Thanks for all those that have supported us through these difficult times…Stay low, stay cool, stay underground.
