h, if you're looking to get tracks out have a look at this thread - http://www.blackoutaudio.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=60872

its a net label we're setting up here (hopefully) called "BOA: output" - if you're just looking to test the waters its a good idea because we'll be sending each compilation out to differant places and labels. theres no style limitations just that its all coming from blackout board members.

Depends what you want to get out of it.

If you're not bothered about making money off it, then talk to Myuzyk (http://myuzyk.net/).

Henry is possibly the nicest person in electronic music, he lives round your neck of the woods, and he'll push your music right across the interweb before you can get your shoes tied.

Sutemos (http://sutemos.net/) are also very cool.

if you just want to host it so you can let us hear it,then mediafire or megaupload or rapidshare are all nice free sites :)

I love a bit of ambient when I'm in a melted chilled out mood.

Would love to hear this, Henry - always a nice gauge of what someone is about 'musically' aside from the usual CRUNK CRUNK CRUNK CRUNK lol. (although we're all, CLEARLY, about a bit of THAT from time to time !)

Might know a few who could be interested too, is there any chance of you hosting them somewhere - even a sendspace link so I can burn a CD to play to some peoples ? YA KNOW ME AH KEN THE SCORE, IT GOES >NAE FURTHER<

I've been playing loadsa piano recently, proper sombre/thoughtful style - also about to dig up another load of MISANTHROPE >severity< You checked that stuff? Link is at the bottom of my posts, it's noise experimentalism. Pretty much the whole thing is done with voice (screams and whispers) and a kaoss pad lol (apart from the bits that are obviously factory noise). THERE'S GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS !

On a slightly different track, though still on a "HENRY IN OTHER MUSIC SHOCKER*" - got a copy of the turtles 12" from BTTP the other day outta PDSA (the ONLY place to shop for rekkids!). JUST FOR POSTERITY.

Hope all's well anyways, mate, not seen ye or any of the London folks (though many ain't even London folks anymore) for TIME. Will rectify this soon ;-) Good to hear yer exploring some different avenues. Dark sidestreets, I mean, sometimes they smell a bit but there's **** ALL other folk down there - know what I mean ? ;-) >VANGUARD STYLE<

Also, you had a word wi Johnny boy truelove or any other publishers with regards to firing it into adverts/films/tv etc ? I know a few people in good advertising companies that might be able to help if the material is in keeping with whatever floats their whimsical/fly by night trend at the time (aside from Cocaine, of course) :-( LOLOLOL - that's SHOWBUSINESS (apparently)

*It's not TOO shocking, of course, I imagine everyone remembers the BTTP days - what ? youz were in nappies ? LOL

Nice stuff, I like the ambient styles at the moment. I don't think I would be able to make it to be honest but I do like to chill out to it.
Has anyone heard the stuff from Burial? This stuff would sound good all mixed up with that and add some Techno Animal in for good measure.

Is this your own stuff Henry? It's soothing.

Burial is amazing.

You know he makes all his tunes on Soundforge? No sequencer or anything.

I haven't heard the new album, but Hyperdub 1 is mesmerising.

Yeah, my house mate sat me down and ranted about the guy and how he makes his music, I was amazed and then I heard the first and second album one after the other. It truly is beautiful!

Lusine is another guy worth listening to.

There's an awesome live PA floating around from the Decibel Festival in Seattle which is just lush.

New album is not as good. Some nice tracks, but he over does the weird speed garage vocal thing and the album does suffer a bit for it.

The Ghost Hardware EP is all killer thou. :) And I can't believe I'm typing these people, but Bloc Party got him to do a quite decent remix.

DannyBlack

I agree that the vocals were over done a small bit on the second album, but track for track I'm still blown away by it. Of course it is always going to be hard to top the first album though.

I didn't hear the Bloc Party remix yet, whats it called?

DVNT
20-10-2008, 01:52 PM
**** knows. Go on Youtube and type in BLOC party and Burial and it should come up.

Don't get me wrong the 2nd album is good. It's just he seems to have not developed it as much as the first. Which is probably due to the pressure bought on by the ever growing hype.

Boomkat is wicked. You should go into the sale section and pick some random stuff out. :) Got some right weird folktronica that way.

Right, I'm in work and non of the systems are working so I decided to have a crack at an ambient track. It aint that accurate time wise. I made it with Audacity portable and a few samples I could scrounge of the www.

Yeah, that link is just timing out for me. Really eager to hear it though.

Looking forward to checking all the stuff listed on this thread. Also that Burial mix of Bloc Party is superb, he really knows how to bring out a sombre edge in his music. Agree with the person who said too many sped up vocals on the second album though - spoiled it for me.

nice to get some feedback going about ambient music
it's an integral part of techno to my mind, mainly because it focuses on sculpting sound very much like techno does in it's purest form.

i did put a little post up a while ago about modulate
( http://www.modulate.org.uk )
i saw them at shambala festival where they were doing this open air installation:

10 identical speakers ( good ones )
on identical stands at about head height focused into the centre of a perfect circle about 5 metres in diameter with a weird buzzing / industrial noise loop panning round and round really fast.

stand in the exact centre and WOW !
feels like your head is about to unscrew.

I'm getting a bit of feedback from myuzyk aboout the ambient mix so thanks for the ideas
warp are not taking demos at the moment
and the hyperdub guys are more dubstep/electronica than ambient as such, but i have a few other ideas so it's all good.

that thing in the woods at shambala was mental - i stood in there for ages attempting to take it in - made me feel dizzy after a while - great stuff

Dave, I just put out a CC release on a new ambient net-label that is looking rather promising. I know the guy heading it up and think he's really on the lookout for new stuff.

I agree there's not enough ambient being made by techno-heads these days...they're hand in hand IMO.
