New venue, new concept….same name!
After a long hot summer in Ibiza, LANGUAGE is back in the UK, at its new home….Mint Lounge. The re-launch (in association with online clothing brand www.hiddenlabels.co.uk) sees Immigrant records man of the moment ‘MR.STATIK’ grace the LANGUAGE decks. MR.STATIK has released EP’s on some of the most underground labels in the world….including highly respected UK imprint Immigrant. He holds a frequent residency at Fetisch as well as making some stand out world wide appearances at Monegros Festival and Tresor to name a few. A Manchester exclusive not to be missed!
Our other guest on the night is none other than The Zoo Project’s own MICHAEL JAMES. Michael has recently returned to the UK following a successful summer residency, playing along side such artists as Jamie Jones, System of Survival, Clive Henry, Shonky, and Anthony Collins.
The above will be supported by monthly resident….BARRON, accompanied by only a laptop and a midi controller, expect a warm up set with a difference, full of interesting new sounds and idea’s!
LANGUAGE is a night of pulsating house and minimal techno, provided by a selection of talent hand picked for your aural delight.
____MR.STATIK (Greece):
Stathis Kalatzis is hidden behind the Mr.Statik moniker. Born in 1978, he grew up in Volos (Greece), where his musical influences go back to 1990 and the rising hardcore/breakbeat scene. Several parties later, he moved to Athens to study Political Science at Panteion University, while in Athens, a firm embrace of techno music lead Stathis to form Improvize - a mobile party with fellow DJ Chevy, aiming at bringing a fresh sound of techno and house in all its forms. More gigs and club nights were involved, including a wonderful trip to Cape Town with the Red Bull Music Academy in 2003. At the beginning of 2005 he formed the Mud Max project alongside amigo Motek (first releases out on Balkon and Ware). After the second half of 2006, Mr.Statik started to work solo as well; signing his first EP’s to labels such as Karloff, Stock5 and Octopus, with a variety of tracks embracing his moodier and atmospheric side. 2007 finds Mr.Statik DJing between his local residency at Fetisch and gigs abroad (with Monegros Festival and Tresor standing out as highlights). In 2008, more releases and international appearances are on the way alongside an exclusive signing to the renowed UK label, Immigrant.
