The fourth installment of the HEJ vinyl catalogue “Meet Me Halfway” has significant meaning. Music can connect people even over great distances, thousands of miles seem to fade away and we all come together with a single rhythm. The PUNISHER (Detroit) “Soul Intersection” track starts off warm and inviting with lush hypnotic synth tones. The breakdowns are layered with swirling effected drums, pitch shifting and bending through space providing amazing depth. Finally the driving beats and chugging bass hit with force and your body moves to the infectious rhythm. SASSMOUTH’s remix is an exotic take on the original, showcasing almost all of the parts with a unique flair. The melody is enhanced with a metallic quality reminiscent of traditional Japanese tones, driven with powerful congas and toms. The sizzling electrified high hats grind through the breaks to provide a real dancefloor stomper. SASSMOUTH delivers primal jazzy fusion of techno and house with “No Sleep ‘Til Kuujjauq”. Saturated with staggered bongos, wood blocks, and a tribal seductive bass. The smooth horns and sassy synth tones caress the percussion and you lose yourself in the movement on the journey to Kuujjauq. PUNISHER (Detroit)’s rework utilizes the raw wood block and creates multiple layers, simple yet cunning, that subtly build and shift throughout the mix. Drawing your attention to the beautiful horns, caressing the ears like a sirens call while the sub bass pummels you. Hej receives play and support from Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Laurent Garnier, Alexi Delano, Xpansul, Adultnapper, Par Grindvik, Deetron, Angel Alanis, Tim Xavier, Camea, plus many more filling the gap between minimal and hard techno.
