yo danny. was asked to do this for a friend to sing kareoke tonight (coincidence or what!!) - the opposite of what you were looking for but its the same concept.

you can still hear the vocal very very faintly but its a perfect example of how phase reverse works.

basically i noticed that the instruments and backing vox were all panned in the track but the lead vocal was dead centre.

i split the track into two mono tracks (left and right) and then phase reversed one of them. this totally knocked the centred vocal out and left me with an almost perfect instrumental.

Wow thanks mate, yeah this gives me a better idea. Thank you. I may torrent that track and try it myself and see if I get the same result.
