I have my 303 plugged into a distortion pedal and its only a mono signal. What do I need to make it come out of both speakers? Is it just a jack adaptor? if so, how do I know if im buying the right one?

Told you it was a stupid question.

you need a mono cable. a guitar cable will do it. remember that a 303 is monphonic. you probably have it plugged in with a stereo jack so its only coming out the left side.

I have a guitar lead coming from the 303 to the overdrive pedal and I need that to go into the DJ mixer which has normal turntable plugs so I'm using a stereo cable. What should I use. Its only coming form the left.

Yea, thats what I got but I have to use an adaptor to get that single end into the pedal cos its a bigger hole. Is the adaptor wrong?

ok. you need the mono connector and then only plug in the left phono input

or if you're gonna buy a new lead then this is the one you want. plug into into the left input on the mixer channel

thinking about it you may also have 2 outputs on the distortion pedal - 1 mono & 1 stereo (i know my old frontline pedals all had the two) - the mono signal is sent left and right when leaving the pedal.

if this is the case then run your current cable from the stereo out into the mixer like normal and you should be fine.

no you'll get a centered signal because the entire signal flow is mono.

a stereo signal flow splits to left and right but a mono doesnt, hence the need for only 1 connection.

the left side of a stereo input always doubles as a mono when a mono cable is used.

I'll have to take your word for it for now being you a man of 303 expertise. I shall put that to the test if I can find a shop that will sell me one in this pissant coastal village. Thanks man. Appreciated. And thanks for the pics.

not just 303's - same goes for any monophonic instrument.

And every mixer will centre the signal form just one input?

rhythmtech

as long as its a mono signal put into the left input

heres the back of a mackie, see how all the left inputs are also labelled mono.

It's a DJ mixer. Nothing fancy. Its got phono inputs.

dont matter. phono inputs are, in use, exactly the same as unbalanced 1/4 inch jack inputs, just differant connectors.

I dont think you are a complete fool pete, its just inexperience in mono matters versus the en-explained norms of audio connections, its one of those things that most people are assumed to know without being told.
