need some help

only just got to grips with the djing side of ableton, and wanted to get a few FX mapped to my controller

Beat repeat is nice but not so much into those sort of FX, anyone recommend me any good creative echos, delays, filters etc that I can use easily in a DJ set, and (better yet) are free?

thousand thankyous

Be interested in this too. There is a drum roll over on www.abletonlivedj.com but I don't really get on with it. :)

db glitch - cracking idea

I'd kill for a decent free filter. 70 euros is pricey when you earn pesos :)

Also, anyone know how to assign multiple variables to a single midi controller pot?

if I want to control wet/dry on a delay and a reverb at the same time, is there a way I can assign one singly midi slider to both?

taaaaa

super luper by a guy called tarekith you can download from his website

http://tarekith.com/misc.html - down the bottom download ableton dj effects v5

theres some other alright stuff on there too but the looper is bad-boy , its a rack made up of beat repeat, eq8 and a filter - you can get some really good loops and doubling going on.

I also use fuzzplus (free on the audio damage website) and frohmage (free on ohmforce site) for a bit of dirt when needed

theres a good thread on aldj about effects

Jay> you can assign as many variables as you want on single knob/fader. it works this way in live7, afaik.

using live 5, so might be why it doesn't work

Need to upgrade!

you shouldeffinitely update to 7, as to my ears the sound engine on 7 improved incompare to previous versions...

I think Frohmage by OhmForce is free.

Running Live vanilla it's pretty light.

It can slow down as you add FX though.

The bundled Ableton one has always worked fine for me , also an upgrade to 7 is certainly worth it the sound engine is much better compared to 5 I was pretty shocked when I made the jump.

How does the Audio engine in 6 fare?

imo, the sound engine got better since version7. When you comapred lower versions to Cubase or Logic, it was really bad. Pretty dull sounding, and also the summing algorhitim was bad.

I might be being thick, but I couldn't seem to find a way to play about with the bundled filter. Assigning a filtersweep to a fader seemed to be impossible, and thats all I wanted it for.

But I am a bear of very little brains, and maybe I'm just not getting something.

it is a little confusing. you need to assign the midi control to the little small horizontal orange bar that has the HZ value in it (for the cutoff) and not the graphical representation. the rez is another horizontal bar underneath the cutoff.
