Now that my production is picking up I want something better than what I have now. I found this chap:

# INTEL Dual Core E5200 CPU (2X2.5ghz CPUs in 1)
# Socket 775 Motherboard
# Massive 2 GIG of DDR2 RAM
# Plentiful 250GIG super fast SATA Hard drive
# DVDRW drive - reads and copies both CDs & DVDs
# Integrated 3D Video - good quality (or add €49 for a 512meg PCI -E card)
# Integrated 3D sound (Obviously I will buy an external soundcard)
# Intgrated LAN (Great for broadband connectivity)
# Quality slim tower case
# 6 X USB 2.0 Ports - 2 at the front & 4 at the rear

This any good?

it all depends what you want to run on it and what money you want to spend danny. that looks fine for FL or ableton (although i would upgrade to 3 gig ram and get xp pro so that you can utilise the 3GB and USERVA switches (these are for letting your machine access more memory and how its allocated).

im about to buy an intel 17 920 8-core BUT i am using protools and the band sessions im doing are running up to 50 tracks so i need it.

what price were you quoted?

Hmmm... food for thought. I will be running FL and Reason only (for now). The price for the above is €300.00. Which to be fair seems like a bloody deadly price.

I don't know why but I got the impression dualcore would be faster. cool, well I shall have a look into sourcing similar to yours.
