View Full Version : do you have to render files in cubase/reason/ableton as you do in Fruityloops?

iv been making tunes in fruityloops for a while now and am starting to find that when I come to render the project as a wav or mp3 the synths sound completeley different. I think what is happening is that fruityloops only makes an approximation of the sound when you are working on the tune but then when you render the tune it goes for maximum quality rather than just doing the best it can in the time it's got (why else would it take 15 minutes to render a 4 minute tune?).

my question is does cubase/reason/ableton have to render the files in the same way or will i get what I hear when i'm making the tune? cheers. mike.

You need to make sure that you are running fruity the same way as you render. Alternatively, use Sound Forge or Wavelab to record. I personally have no probs rendering with fruity. When I had my desk I used to record back in for obvious reasons.

cheers for the help barely human, when you say that i need to set Fruityloops to render the same way im running it do you mean i need to set both the general settings and the box in the render window to the same thing, for example 6 bit hermite? i tried this this morning and it's still sounding weird. is there something else im missing?

Firstly, go to the project options and turn off circular panning law. I have my realtime audio to 6 point hermite, and at 44100hz. Make sure that nothing is clipping in any channel before you render. On you render settings, I always use 256 point hermite, but thats up to you. Turn on dithering and HQ and disable max poly. Let me know if there is any difference.

I had little teething problems at first. All I did when rendering was make sure that the bit rate is turned up to 320 or 450 for mp3.

let us know how you get on matey.

iv tried these ideas but it's still doing it. I think maybe it is just that my computer can't cope. it's only happening with 1 tune so i'm just going to record from the master on the mixer in fruityloops for that 1 tune. thank you both for the help though.

It sounds like a plugin issue to me. Try and find the offending plugin and disable it to see if that cures the problem.
