with the unfortunatley happenings at DS2 which was by far and away the best online store for techno, i was wondering where everybody is now buying their tunes from? i havent used anyone else for ages you see.

aye- sucks about DS2. Juno only seem to stock minimal. I dunno man.I'd say that juno tends to have a more liberal definition of techno, including a lot of more minimalish releases under that heading. That may make it seem like they carry more minimal, but they don't. They just call a lot of it "techno" when headbangers such as ourselves would prefer they keep it away from our slamma jammas.

Do you guys not get the weekly "Techno" email from Juno? While yeah they do have some good stuff, it is buried in amongst dog turds.

I miss DS2!!!

Techno is our thing...It's pretty much all we do, in all its various guises, from Minimal all the way through to Acid Techno & Schranz.
We do sell a bit of house/breaks/d'n'b & hardtek but we love our Techno!
We've got a fairly extensive back catalogue collection with some gems if you know what you're looking for.
And we're having a sale at the moment with a lot of the back cat at £3-4.
The new stuff we reckon is just about the cheapest you'll find online.
There's some cracking releases this week including Kombination Research, Codeworks, a great release from Eric Sneo on Masters Of Disaster, Horacio Cruz on TechOn, and loads more Funky/ Minimal & schranz stuff.
I've still got a chunk more to record but they should all be up on the site in a couple of hours.

that might be more a question of how you've got the email letter set-up.

i've always found their stock to be pretty diverse, though admittedly, i haven't bought vinyl from them in a couple years...

juno is a nightmare. 3000 tracks to search through and only a few are any good.

BUT you do get rewarded for your patience, cause there are things on there you wont find anywhere else. it's just whether or not you're still in tact from smashing your head against the screen every 5 minutes.

kinetic is best for a quick fix imho. i love those guys.

but i will menton here that i'm about to set up an online store, focusing on the hard techno, obviously the hard dancey shit i do and schranz.

the key to a good store to me is usability and good music.

we need to cut out the crap

Unfortunately I don't think there's too much of that kind of hard techno out there anymore. And probably the closest sounding stuff (labels like Mastertraxx, Planet Rhythm etc.) would be under the Techno section these days because really its closer to that than the schranz stuff.

p.s. Mark - we love you too :)

I'm actually surprised how much Techno there is on Amazon mp3 page. I got some Chris Liebing stuff there yesterday, and was just searching Steve Rachmad now:

[URL="http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-music&field-keywords=steve+rachmad"]Amazon.co.uk: steve rachmad: MP3 Downloads (http://www.amazon.co.uk/chris-liebing-2-MP3-Downloads/s/qid=1272732211/ref=sr_pg_2?ie=UTF8&keywords=chris%20liebing&bbn=77197031&rh=n%3A77197031%2Cn%3A%2177925031%2Ck%3Achris%20li ebing%2Cp_n_format_browse-bin%3A78187031&page=2)

The tracks are all around 69 - 79p, with the most expensive being 99p, which is much cheaper than beatport, for example. I'm impressed how much Techno they've got, so am gonna keep digging around :-)
