julian LIBERATOR h– julian is one third of the legendary Liberator Djs with Chris and Julian and has been rocking dancefloors across the globe for almost 20 years with firing sets of Techno and Acid Techno. The Liberator DJs came through the North London squat party scene where they had been gaining skills making all night parties full of punks and ravers. In 1992 they teamed up with the extremely influential sound system Bedlam busting into warehouses to make some of the most chaotic free parties London had ever seen. For this party julian will play a special set of the techno that shaped his journey from the early 90s Bedlam soundsystem parties up to forming Stay Up Forever in 1994. Stay Up Forever (www.stayupforever.com) are the collective that invented the London techno sound that in their own words is “not intelligent, not from Detroit, but it’s f**kin avin it!!”, and have successfully exported the sound, scene and attitude to all corners of the world!!

He has played at countless warehouse/squatparties for a number of techno soundsystems including Every1sound, Malfaiteurs, Hype, Manik. Currently a resident for Stay Up Forever’s flagship night Nuclear Free Zone which takes place each month at London's legendary 414 club in Brixton. He is the promoter of Vote Techno Party and will be playing a typical upfront squatparty set!!
DJ ROO James Lealand (AKA DJ Roo) has been ripping up the turntables of some of the most well-respected venues in London (and beyond) for over ten years. In 1998 he arrived in the capital from Dorset with a mission: to make a serious dent in the London dance scene. After years spent throwing shapes in front of the DJ box and trying to think where he could fit into it all, the time came to switch sides when he realized it was his love of the music that kept him coming back for more and Lealand started DJing around Brixton, which was the hub of London trance throughout the late nineties.
DJ Roo's first foray into the world of turntable trickery was at a Afterparty in the middle of the day. As is to be expected, the resulting musical mash up did not quite measure up to his current slickness, but with a little more practice and the support of his buddies at Railton Road, it started him on a journey towards becoming one of the most well-respected DJs on the scene.
In the years that followed he quickly found himself booked to play at such venues as the Brixon Academy, The Coronet, 414, The Fridge, Fridgebar, The Rocket, George the Fourth, The Drome, The SE1 club, Tyson Street Studios, The Stratford Rex, The Scala and countless free/squat parties all over London. During the day he was building up a store of skills and love for the industry working for Kinetec Records and Infectious Distribution.
Throughout all these musical adventures, Lealand was able to explore a whole bucketful of genres of dance music, from Techno, acid Techno and Breakz, to Drum'n'bass, electro and hardcore. Subsequently his experiments lead him all the way back to the music's original influences - punk, ska, hip-hop, blues and disco. After much deliberation and adoration of sounds, only one conclusion could be reached by this multi-faceted Turntablist: despite the diversity of the music he was playing with, it was all born from the same womb. Lealand realized that music of all different colors and flavors fundamentally expressed the same ideas: that of being free to enjoy yourself in the here and now; that on the Dancefloor you can be who you want and no one can take that from you... and it is this philosophy that he carries with him in his record box to every single gig.
It is also perhaps this refreshingly unprejudiced and limitless attitude to DJing that has given him the opportunity to work with some of the best in the business: including Marco Baily, DJ Murphy, DJ Rush, Chris Liberator, Thermobee, Geezer, DAVE the Drummer, Layo and Bushwacker, Green Velvet, James Holden, Yves Deruyter, DJ Preach, Andy Farley, Pete Wardman, Utah Saints, Nicky Blackmarket, Billy Bunter, Adam F, Josh Wink, Adam Beyer, Speedy J, Thomas Schumacher, Pendulum, Coldcut, The Herbaliser, DJ Food, Ben Sims, Valenino Kanzyani, Mark EG, Infected Mushroom and Astrix, as well as securing residency at Antiworld for over 4 years.
2009 has seen things go into overdrive for James Lealand musically and geographically. As well as traveling the globe building up an impressive photographic portfolio, he has also been busy on home soil, cooking up a tasty mix of hard edged style of Techno, with a very percussive and funky flavor. Combine this with tight production and some nifty skills on the decks and the result is a wickedly uplifting sound that has had Dancefloors rocking regularly all over the capital. All this is in addition to being found playing as part of the Every1Sound crew on the London squat party scene; recent bookings at Club Hidden; the legendary Nuclear Free Zone parties at 414 and Logic; even over to South Africa and of course Antiworld Ibiza this summer.
In short, the boy from Dorset has achieved his primary objective, and has indeed, dented and smashed his way through the London Techno scene. Now, having emerged with a whole host of musical wizardry at his nimble fingertips, he is ready and waiting to take the next Dancefloor to a whole new level.
