just thought i'd share some pics of my new studio build with you guys.

its called "Base Recording Studios" and is (obviously) based here in dublin.

we cater mainly to the rock/indie market but can easily be used for techno although being a commercial facility our prices probably wouldnt be suitable for the small returns on todays sales of techno :ruretard:

so you can like us on facebook - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ballyfermot-Ireland/Base-Recording-Studios/128260883885461?v=photos&ref=sgm#!/pages/Ballyfermot-Ireland/Base-Recording-Studios/128260883885461 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ballyfermot-Ireland/Base-Recording-Studios/128260883885461?v=photos&ref=sgm#%21/pages/Ballyfermot-Ireland/Base-Recording-Studios/128260883885461)

and we'll have a proper website up and running soon enough.

clients have access to an onsite cafe and free entry to a swimmingpool/health spa (independtly run from the studio but in the same complex)

Nice studio, will you be mastering techno?

rhythmtech
22-08-2010, 01:31 AM
no, mastering is not something i'd be willing to do without proper experiance and equipment.

engineering has really thought me the importance of a good mastering engineer and while i'd like to learn the craft down the line, at the moment ive to much to learn about recording and mixing.

we do provide listening masters but they're just for the band to have something to listen to .

sweet studio,

in the pics you have 'rolled' rockwool in the corner traps, Did you keep then rolled like that at final assembly? and then build the frame over the corners?

rhythmtech
20-10-2010, 07:35 PM
yeah we kept it rolled. easiest way to handle it.

we had to cut it and lay it out for the cloud and mid traps and it was a bloody nightmare. scratching for days!

good tip mate. really hate working with the stuff, had to clear a load out of my loft recently, i had rashes on my arms for days.

i spent some time in a studio in manchester recently (i completely fell in love with the idea of working in one) and am starting to look at the possiblility of doing a similar sort of course to the one you graduated from. Courses are fair expensive though. but sometimes you got to take the bull by the horns and run.

where did you study?

rhythmtech

i studied at pulse recording and windmill lane here in dublin. it was expensive (although still a lot cheaper than UK courses!) but then i did learn on an SSL g+ and a neve VR along with some amazing outboard and tape machines (studer, teletronix, urie, la audio, focusrite, drawmer, manley etc etc) so the price wasnt really an issue.

i'd rather pay to learn on the best of gear than do the state college courses on a imac and an mbox!

sounds good, there's a similar place in manchester called ssr, that has all the bee's knees equipment wise
