just with reason? pc or mac?

a mate just got one and STILL the midi wont work (after 2 weeks). M-audio tech support absolutely sucks. they told him to increase his sys ram from 256 to 512 to get the midi working!!!!!! useless

They also sold another mate of mine the same card before they had mac drivers for it. he had to wait 2 months for them.

It sounds great but they are some shower of .......

on a pc. i should have way more than enough ram and hard disk space. cubase won't crash, but there is no sound. their tech support is almost non-existant.

In cubase, does yer sounscard show up on the devices/ device setup/ VST multitrack/ Asio Driver?? A lot of new soundcards r a real shi* 2 install... The way 2 know if it's well installed is if it's asio driver shows up on the relevant drop-down list in sx, if it doesn't then u need 2 re-install.

One trick u should try is to just use a different slot on the motherboard from the one u r using now.

Unistall drivers, swap pci slot, install, re-inicialise win,....

some maudio soundcards require u 2 run a file from the driver cd... this might b called something like xp_post_installer (xppostinstaller.exe)... Again this will install some new drivers.... move 2 the new step..

now this is the tricky part... just go start/ definitions/ device manager/ system/ harware/ system manager/ soundcard controlers, video and games... on this u should find yer soud card listed,,,,

right click on it /update controler/ Install from a list or a specific location/ Don't look. I'll coose the controler 2 install/ SLECT THE DRIVER THEN CLICK DISK.... explore till u get the cd, xp driver, now u should have a file showing, select it, ... update---

do this 2 the several drivers on yer soundcard... or till it shows up in cubase and works,,, U migth need 2 do that a few times (update the drivers and restart windows)...

hope that works...

thanks for the tips! here's the problem...

first install...i get sound in one track in cubase. i close it, open another. no sound. no levels.

i open an mp3, i get sound! so i open reason, and it crashes. i reboot the computer, and start again...

...nothing in cubase, play an mp3, so sound, and the mp3 player won't move forward on the track. i don't even bother trying reason out.

shut down, reboot. now the driver for the fw 410 is gone. disappeared into thin air!

yeah, got those. tried disabling my previous soundcard drivers too. now the fw 410 is stable, at least...i can hear the windows sound effects consistently, but still mp3s won't play and no levels in cubase. yarg...this shouldn't have to be this difficult.

I'm betting is something 2 do with your firewire port... if it isn't an in-boar port, but a pci, try swapping pci slot just as another work-a-round...

My m8 at the shop has one of those soundcard and works perfectly with everything and he's on a siemens laptop!

Have u donne any tweaks 2 yer xp?

I have a USB soundcard that just acted up when using my "studio tweaked OS" but when I runned it on the normal net/ work OS it functioned like a charm! !?... I later needed 2 format the all thing, the other day I decide 2 try just out of curiosity and it works!!

Is your windows updated... I know most xps don't really get serious untill u've installed the 2nd Service Pack....

If u have the possibility 2 try on some1 else's computer, please do, I think it might be one of those crazy OS/ firewire probs!

Let me remind u of the trick 2 update the drives manually in hardware setup... it's the only way 2 get a M-Audio Quattro/ Duo 2 work normally 4 instace...
