No offence mate.

Why do you put the word promo beside every record in your chart??.

Is it just for show?.

surely all you need is the record label?.

Yeah rite i love looking at charts but i hate it when people show off writing promo next to everything!!

Can i ask you did u put that brian adams tune in your chart coz you like it or coz its a promo????

Far to commercial for my liking!

Sorry mate!! :rambo:

The reason it says Promo next to some of the labels is for two reasons:

1. First and most importantly, the promo release can often differ from the proper release.

2. It shows that the record isn't in most cases, out yet so if your looking for it thats why you might not find it.

This is why it sometimes says CDR (probably not gunna be out for some time to come), TP (Test Press which will again be different from the release) and Promo stating that its the promotion release of a vinyl, which can differ from the actual release as it is a different release of that tune by the label (as I'm sure you know). Hope this helps.

The Agenelli & Nelson remix of Chicane - Don't Give Up also more then deserves it's place in any trance chart! IMO

tiddlypeep my boy.... ha ha ha. Love ya!

Hes got a point tho mate, as a lot of them u ave promo or tp or even Jx's case CDR have been released or past the promo point. So u will know if its the same or not?

But its a silly argument really, i like to ave to odd Promo, CDR etc in my chart aswell, lmfao.

Also mate, u could contribute to the forum aswell instead of just spamming it!

Firstly,

I only wanted to know and also clarified that putting no offence at the top of my post so sorry if people may have read me in the wrong context.

I was just asking because I do chart returns weekly also and never see the need to put promo beside anything even if it is a Promo because in my opinion the label is enough info.

Its just when I read other boards mainly tranceaddict and Trance.Nu people seem to put promo beside their charts just for show to make out that they are better than other peeps.

I should have realised tho that BOA is not like other boards and we all have mutual respect for each other and it's all about the music, not ego or bad feeling.

Apologies everyone!.

Will ;)

haha this post is quality and an issue that if i had a go i'd be hypocritical about however the reasons why certain people have given for putting promo after a record don't ring true to me.

i've stopped putting promo after records in my chart simply because most djs manage to get promos from shops before I even get sent them somehow (the earlier copies anyway) so its pointless, and advertising a cd-r well its a bit pointless i may as well start advertising mp3s next and sticking them in my chart hahahaha...

I do a list of thanks to all teh labels who send me tunes each week at the bottom of my chart/playlist though out of curtosy to them also acknowledge the record shops where i got tunes from for the same reason.

but i suppose certain people on here will tell me im wrong for having my opinion.

i dont know how to spell curtosy either that is wrong i think

such is life :-)

have a nice day folks.

A certain promotions company which charges you roughly £60 per quarter has stated that this weeks priorities are:

ARMIN VAN BUUREN "BURNED WITH DESIRE" (NEBULA)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
PARADISE "SEE THE LIGHT" (TURBULENCE)

if djs do not chart this companies priorities then they probably wont get more stuff from this company. I do think that this is why these tunes are in charts of DJs on this mailing list and dont believe they are fully there for the merit they deserve.

HAHA yeh i think its pointless putting promo next to somamt as the realeses arent always that much out before the actual release, i feel that they whole reason why people get sent records is to give feedback on if that record is to be releasd if they get negative feedback then it wouldnt be released, i get records that have already been copied up and get released about 1week later?? i dont really see th point in that... any how heres my trancey chart!!

hehe quite interesting this, theres a few labels who cut me off their mailing list because i gave my honest opinions and didnt chart stuff just because i was on their list, which pissed me off a bit because some of the stuff was good but why should i chart the ones that were shit just because they said so :dontevengothere: rant over ;)

yeah this is what I also don't like.

Why ask you to do a chart if when you give your honest opinion on a track and if they don't like it then they take you off. Sometimes it makes me angry and I get 'Hyperactive' but, I also think that sometimes these companies have all the 'Power'

Whoops :)
