Anyone heard about this for the line up at good greef this month?
I seen this on a dutch hardstyle forum and they all seem to love anne savage??
Why is this?
Also, does Dana actually play hardstyle anymore?

from all the Dana sets I've heard she has always played dutch hardcore and over the last 2 years played hardstyle.
 rumour has it anne savage plays a bit of hardstyle now as well!!! dont quote me on that but thats whats i heard from a source the other day. If its true is that the real start of the demise of hardstyle as we know it!! :!:

lol... that's if she can even manage mixing hardstyle!
Nah I don't care who mixes what, I play what I love and if it becomes commercial then so be it.
I'm not going to pretend I don't like a genre any more just because it gets popular or someone else starts playing it.
Hope Hardstyle doesn't demise, but it needs to get better though, and quickly imo.

Some of the hardhouse Anne Savage plays sounds like Rotterdam hardcore from '93-94...

start of the demise of hardstyle as we know it!! :!:
I think we're way past that point now!
If Anne Savage plays hardstyle, so what? it's not exactly underground anymore, and the majority of hardstyle especially the dutch stuff is very close to hard house.
People always seem to knock Anne Savage's mixing too, i've seen her on quite a few occasions, and she was real technical. Either she's got an unjust rep, or i'm catching her on good days.
Im not having a go at anne savage, she is a good dj but what i mean is it the case that all the dj's under the sun will start playing it and flooding the place with shit tunes and every cd in the shops being poor quality compilations classed as the best of hardstyle etc etc.

Obviously I don't think she is crap, she wouldn't be where she is else... but the move from hard house mixing to hardstyle is not a simple one.

I see this with alot of people, there is no problem at all with djs playing what they want, but it is little annoying when it seems djs jump into a certain style becuase its the new sound (and then be well recognised for representing or even pioneering the style)..
Look at all the crap about fergie playing techno..

All I can say is: "So fu*king what!" If Anne Savage (great name for a hardstyle DJ!) wants to play something different, fu*king let her. Its like when Fergie started playing techno, so what? He wants to play something different, let him. It seems both DJ's bailed out of the hardhouse scene because its going down hill, same reason people who were into hardtrance 'jumped' on to hardstyle init?

I see what your saying mate, im not saying its wrong, its all good, just said 'its a little annoying' becuase there a plenty of djs that have been playing hardstyle for years that could also blow anne savage away, who people have never heard of, but, becuase she played hard house which turned fairly commercial, she is well known and now shes switched to hardstyle, the masses will see her for something shes not, for example bringing hardstyle to the UK..

peope who were into hard trance didnt jump to hardstyle imo. They were already in the right place. unlike hard house djs.
PLus anne savage is a high profile dj, and if she started mixing hardstyle in front of all her cheesy gatecrasher nobs, it could **** the scene over

So is Mark EG fu*king the scene over when he plays at Slinky then? :eh: I don't think so. Its all about educating more people with new sounds. Its how the scene can grow stronger & expand. So what if Anne Savage plays / played hard house? I'm pretty sure most of you who started mixing didn't just jump straight into the hard trance / hard style. I for one used to spin NRG / hard house / hardcore before I got into techno, then into hard trance, before heading back to techno. Are you going to slate me wanting to change styles? :?: More and more hard trance DJ's in the South West seem to be chucking techno into their sets at the moment. Are they band wagon jumpers? No. Its all about quality music at the end of the day.

Mark eg knows his shit, and would play proper hardstyle. Anne savage on the other hand would more than likely play the cheesiest shit she could get her hands on, giving it loads of publicity, thus people thinking hardstyle is shit and not even giving the proper hardstyle djs a chance. I understand we have to educate people in order for newcomers to be attracted to are scene but Anne Savage would be the last person id want to educate n e one on Hardstyle.
Also I never slated anyone for mixing different styles. Of course I understand that peoples musical tastes are gonna change, people can mix what they want.
All im saying is anne savage mixing hardstyle, probably not really knowing what its all about would be bad.

If shes playing it & people are listening to it, then not many people can be thinking its shit.
You say, "give the proper hardstyle DJ's a chance". Like who? At the end of the day, weather you like her or not, Anne Savage CAN mix, so if shes playing quality tunes & people want to see her still, whats the problem? Surely her hammering out hardstyle & getting people into it is a good thing?

What i mean by give proper hardstyle djs a chance is, if she plays shit hardsyle to her crowd, theyll hear that and think thats what hardstyles about. Then they would be alot less likely to listen to mark eg which would not be good for the scene.
being honest I have no idea what she plays and if people like it, so at the moment I am kinda making assumptions.

I don't think Annes playing to much Hardstyle at the mo. That track with Gaz West isn't Hardstyle so I've been told.
She made her mark in Hard House scene and would be stupid to jump striaght over to Hardstyle as she risks upsetting everyone and everything that has got her were she is today (unless they too have complety done the same). She may be playing the "odd" hardstyle track but then again who isn't at the mo.
I don't think its anything to worry about.
There is a new track coming out on Nukleuz Black: Dark by Design and Alex Kidd - Eye of the Demon.
I gotta say its awful. Proberly the worst dbd track I've heard so far!!
I would love you know this baords thoughts.

Last time I heard Anne play, she played a huge range of styles from funky house through to hard trance, sort of like Judge Jules. I don't think she's really been a 100% hard house Dj for quite a while now. I think she's perfectly within her rights to change genres, the person she's billed with here, Lady Dana is a former hardcore DJ, how is that any different?
The fact is hardstyle was influenced by hard house, so it's really not surprising that former hard house DJ's have or will take a shine to it. The similarities in genres are growing by the day - it is too easy to produce, the market is flooded with extremely bad productions, and the quality standard is going dramatically downhill just as happened to hard house. The majority of hardstyle today IS very cheesy and not very good, so you're right that this is the kind of stuff that she'll probably play, but that's down to the state of the genre, not her.

Tis a good point but just coz the majority of hardstyle is cheesy doesnt mean she has 2 play it! Other hardstyle djs dont play cheese just coz its there. They sift through the shit & pick out the good stuff ;)

But punters at Goodgreef will like that kind of stuff. Dana would probably play darker hardstyle at this night anyhow.
For me it all comes down to choice, and freedom of choice. You have the choice to listen to Anne Savage or not, nobody is forcing anyone. She has the choice to play it or not, and she also has the choice to play whatever style of it she likes. The way I see it, she's not trying to be an ambassador for the genre, or jumping on a bandwagon, she is simply playing music she likes to people who have a concious decision to listen to her play it or not.
