if you imagine that on a 2000 run of a record people might do 100 promos, that means they have to sort out the worlds distributors, shops, and prominent djs, and even that may not make a blind bit of difference to sales.
people sending out promos need to know that they'll get individually idinetified to either people who make descisions to buy multiple hundreds for a given territory, or will play them to hundreds if not thousands of people, and chart them on every website, forum, chart list, radio station, magazine, toilet wall, every-****-where to make a difference. if not, its really not worth my investment in the plastic.
playing at some night i've never heard of doesnt really stand out.

dont think i'm cussing you, at least you're asking how to go about it rather than trying to blag etc
but if you tried it from where you are now you'd be ignored as a free record blagger, and that can weaken the scene in itself
