The fourth release from Metrotraks comes from DJ Sam, who hails from our native Finland and from the city of Lahti, which has also been coined the "Chicago of Finland" - so it's no coincidence that his influences have come from best of both worlds: flavors of both
house and techno ooze from his production and DJ sets.

His first-ever commercial net release, the "00500 Upgrade EP" on Metrotraks perfectly proves this point. It's perfectly-laden smooth minimal techno with evidences from the Cologne sector, but deep within lie the solid foundations of house which make his music gain the depth, warmth and soul that it needs to make a brother funk.

This solid five-tracker oozes with quality and if one didn't know that DJ Sam comes from Finland, you'd be forgiven to think that he was from Germany, as it's so close to the sound originating from there, but still there's a certain kind of imprint sound of Finland: somehow depressing yet funky as hell, a combination that can't go wrong! "Dänkkä" - which probably will be highly impossible for foreign people to pronounce - is our favorite track with haunting and almost spooky melodies over a groovy triole-type beat. It sure catches attention and makes you reminisce back into the days where you were still a kid and afraid of ghosts ;)

DJ Sam's love affair with electronic music dates far back into the beginning of the 90's, but his production only began late 1998, from where he's been building a solid career. Sam & Gigi is one of his most successful projects, in where he along the female singer Gigi, have
created subtle textures of deep house spiced with elements from techno and beautifully arranged amazing vocals. There's a lot more than meets the eye!
