Good production.
Nice basic groove, but absolutely nothing happens for the entire duration of the tune.
Hardly any variation whatsoever, you can skip to pretty much any point in the track and you will get the same thing.
As a loopgroove fine. Convert to 133.33 BPM, and cut as a loop.
As a 7 min tune for vinyl? Needs more happenin`

The fact that 2 people made this, I find this kind of lazy programming inexcusable.
Sorry to be harsh, but techno needs to progress from this kind of format.

this is your first comment on our stuff though..

as for the tune mate...if we wanted to make a loop out of it,we would done so..
but its not a loop,its just a plain hard techno track,suitable for dj purposes.

and i cannot say we were lazy with programing mate,we did
a lots of efx, automatisation and so...maybe you just dont like the arrangment?

I like this - deep, dark and brooding 'out there' type sounding techno - similar to Patrik Skoog, Staffan Ehrlin, Carl Max etc. Would be nice to mix with - if you get it in record guys?!

The point is, this is the problem with techno.
Producers who make a loop, and ride it out for 6 mins.
That`s what loop grooves are for.
How hard is it to add proper variation, or builds, or some change?
To me this kind of production is 1 of 2 things
Lazyness
or Lack of ideas.

Sorry to be blunt, but patting each other on the back isn`t gonna improve a very stagnated scene, and people need a kick up the arse to stop doing things like this.

The excuse of, oh, it`s designed for DJ`s, it`s pointless, and a cop-out.

If you are looking to sell records. About 10-20% of what you sell will actually go to gigging DJ`s. The rest go to the other music lovers. The music should be made for them also.

How hard is it to make a loop tune.

Build a few layers of percussion, use some obvious hook tricks with the beats.
Add one repeating, nagging synth, and a ride cymbal now and again.

3 hours work? 4 hours?

checked it, agree totally if a bit harsh yeah it bored me.... it just backs up the debate ive just enjoyed on the tool terror 1 thread.... people say "oh yeah its good for mixing"... errr.. well in that case u shud learn to dj more creatively instead of mixing the latter 3 mins of the track...

there is a difference between the production in a track and the content of the track, and work needs to be done in equal measures in both area's... it can be the best produced track in the world but if its nearly exactly the same for 7 mins then really, what is the point? its just wasting valuable record space when it can be cut into a 2 bar loop

i dunno guys! tis got a cheeky sample in there!! and that dont go on for 7mins. some times tis nic to stay on the same sort of groove til the next tune comes in. and when its pounding at 6 in the morning and of the face and rite into wot ya hearing. gotta say i wouldnt complain... realy liking the stuff you guys are doing. solid as production. cant please um all ;)

when i started producing seriously, i was copping myself out with the same excuse.....

but having learned that there can be so much more to a tune, id feeel wrong leaving it as an average looper.....

I think what Steve is really saying is that he is looking for the new progression in Techno. With this tune, that does not happen. It's a great tune none the less, but it isn't making any real advances to the style nor is it too forward thinking. However this is still proper techno for the floor too.

Yeah Steve is going to give me shit on this one again, but I can deal.

I still think this is quality work for what it is. Loopy it is, progress it really doesn't but shake the floor...Oh yes it would.

I see where you're coming from though Steve. You just want to hear a new change in the tune every so often...maybe a bit more progression as well to keep it interesting.

But look at it this way.

everybody has the means to produce these days.
The technology is readily available and pretty cheap.
So every techno DJ under the sun is making tunes.
70% of the stuff made is just static loops.
70% of the stuff released is just static loops.
Sales are dropping and dropping and dropping.
Ask yourself this.

Does my tune stand out from the records in my box?
Will this tune be used as a 30 second snip in someones mix, and then never be used again.
Aspiration is all important.
No one should aspire to be mediocre.
And no one should be self satisfied. You can always do better.
If you are serious, then you should want to stand out as an individual.
If you just want to be the same as everyone else, then go buy some nike trainers, some levi jeans, a Gap T shirt, and join the other clones.

my Concrete mates and Timo did... it has some special groove in it.. sick vocal really got me goin there !!
i would definetly spin it ... and i think this track is a very usefull Dj tool
especially on 3 decks ...when u are the producer yourself , not just a spinner

it is always great to hear other pplz oppinions and especially ppl like DB
, perfectionist i say ... ! :cool: be sure, steve thet all u say is taken to account ... such constructive criticism is always welcome ..
but i wouldnt go as far to say it's a boring loop ...
