Hey!
I have the Echo Indigo I/O now which I am very happy with but it seems its time is running out (it refuses to work properly every second time I use it).
So I guess it is time for a new one.
Which one though?
It must not be PCMCIA but it is preferrable due to its size. A small USB card could be good too.
Keep in mind that I bring it on many gigs so it should be durable!
And above all low latency! =)

Firewire - I have no ports for that on my laptop.
Ok, if you want to go down to speeds, USB2 is faster than firewire, and pcmcia is faster than usb 2.
Personally i dont know which good card thier are out there at the moment, but i would go down the pcmcia route...

I've had no problems with the M-Audio Audiophile at USB 1.1. Actually, strike that, I've had one problem. If I tried running Ableton and Reason at the same time on my laptop, there would be a slight latency issue between audio that my software was generating and what I was doing with external gear. However, being that I don't use any external gear for the stuff I do with Ableton, problem was quickly fixable by just closing Ableton and running Reason standalone. For straight laptop rock though, I've never had a prob. Use it with a machine that has roughly 300 megs of RAM and a Celeron 2.0 ghz processor. Not exactly an extreme setup.
