[Newcastle] Hooked 1st Birthday with Joris Voorn @ Wax:On

This month we host the back room at the first ever monthly Wax:On at Digital, manning the decks for us this month is rising Dutch Techno star Joris Voorn. A native of Rotterdam, Joris started to DJ House and Techno in 1997 and has gone on to play in clubs the world over.

In 2000, Joris started to produce his own music which led to his first release, ‘Muted Trax Pt. 1’ on Keynote, which received plays from Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, DJ Rush, Technasia and many more. In 2003 ‘Lost memories Pt. 1’ was released on Technasia’s Sino label and was followed by ‘Lost memories Pt. 2’ containing a piano filled track called ‘Incident’ which charted in almost every dance magazine of worth, made No. 1 in Mixmag's Techno singles, was playlisted by John Peel and was championed by none other than Carl Cox. Since then he has released an album, Future History, on Sino, released a DJ mix CD for Belgium's infamous Fuse club, provided remixes for Alexander Kowalski, Vince Watson and Secret Cinema and founded his own label, Green. In addition to DJing Joris also performs live and has performed at the famous Tresor Club in Berlin, Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam, The Loft in Barcelona and the Movement Festival in Detroit to name a few.

Joris will be DJing for 2 hours with support from Hooked residents Chris Littlewood and Andy Gordon. In the Main room Wax:On welcome James Lavelle and Radio Slave with support from People Get Real and Oli PPatten, whilst Hip-Hop takes over the third room with Killa Kela live supported by talented local turntablist, Dave Murray.
