Our guest on October 4th will be Chris Gawtry(Tune Inn records, I Love Techno)

Many of you will already be familiar with Chris from your vinyl purchasing at Tune Inn records and some will know Chris from his residency at I Love Techno. He has also recently been playing abroad in countries like Slovenia, Slovakia and Croatia.
Chris plays the hard, funky style of techno which is hugely popular with the 1stGeneration regulars.

The 1stGeneration residents Paddy and Dell will be in attendance as usual.

1stGeneration announcement

Our party on October 4th will be the last of our monthly events at The Kiva, Weymouth.
Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, we have recently been unable to put on events to a standard and quality that we, the 1stGeneration collective, insist on so we will be temporarily calling a halt to our events until further notice.

When we started these events we aimed to promote with honesty and integrity, putting the primary focus on the music and to always put on the best possible party with the resources available to us. And for a while this was working well. Now however, due to circumstances outside our control, we feel we can no longer achieve this.

1stGeneration has always been about more than just playing techno. There are a number of DJs in our collective and it is important to us that all our tastes and styles are catered for and represented. Since losing one of the rooms at our current venue the focus of the parties has changed entirely and is no longer in tune with the original vision and concept of 1stGeneration. This has affected the vibe of the party and this has been reflected in the falling numbers, despite some top quality guests, over the past few months. Even though we never set out to make money from these events, the reality of the situation is that none of our collective are high enough earners to continue subsidising the losses we have had recently.

Sadly, this has led to us having to make the tough decision to temporarily suspend operations. We will continue to negotiate with the current venue, the local council and other venues in the area to try and get the sort of space where we can once again put on the type of party we are capable of and more importantly, the type of party we think our paying guests deserve. Plans are already being made.......

We are down, but not out.

We would appreciate it if people joined us on Oct 4th to make our last night (in the short term) at the Kiva the kind of party and send off it deserves.

In a cunning twist and going against the normal practice of last minute cancellations, 1stGeneration are happy to announce a (nearly) last minute addition to this line up. For your listening pleasure local talent Meri (Chunes - High Fish - Country Club) will also be joining us.

The running order will now be :
