..mind giving this short loop a listen and tell me if im on the right track

its not the kind of stuff im into but one thing i would say is the kick isnt cutting through very well, and it maybe needs more sounds to fill out the mix more.

yeah use a kick with some frequencies a little higher up the spectrum to bring definement, the kick u are currently using is completly lost within the mix. not a bad effort though, id like to hear it with another kick that cuts through.
