Do you support small nights????

Read the post about decline in hard trance events and was wondering how much support is actually given to small nights from the underground scene. After promoting Binary for the last 8 months and it has been hard to get people through the doors as it is something new to the usual commercial/ hard house music that they usually listen to. Since May we have seen the crowds increase steadily increse through the reputaion we are gaining for ourselves. However the first few months were touch and go to wether we could carry on.............

Do you think if more support was given the situation wouldn't be as bad????

I do a small night down at a local club in Weymouth and you really have to work yer bollocks of to get anything of a crowd...

It's just all about perseverance and patience....

the only small undergroundy legal thing i go to is Project Storm in Oxford.. the attendance has slowly increased throughout the year, it was pretty mcuh empty when i first went in March or round bout then - when i played there last month it was fully ramed.
i would put it down to building up a reputation over each event, which must have been 8-10 or so - fair play to 'em , it's a banging night :)
i'm getting into the smaller nights more - been to Addict's night Resonate, and i'll be at Oblivion a lot in the future ;) . but ya cant beat a good old 12-16 hour party, which the smaller nights just cant offer, and i go for them the marjority of the time.

i'd like there to be more small parties, but there is a serious lack of affordable venues in south bucks (hell i'd been doing it if i could find one).. i dont like to have to travel more then 40 mins if a night finnishes at 2/3am - it's all cheese gayrage & RnB in the venues that would be suitable , but theys do not want crusty partiers in their posh bars n clubs..
there is the market for it, i know it would take a few parties to get established, that's a given - times are a changing, i think folks are now wanting to get back to the roots, forget the commercialism of super clubs and get down and dirty with promoters and DJs who care about the scene and music rather then getting £15/20 out of them for super star DJs' wages - OK things like big "Weekenders" are getting more popular i think, but they are a more special time and bit of an adventure....
dare i say there is a general trend shift towards the harder side of dance music going on at the moment?

I support my local small nights! Thats were the future is.

Smaller nights are much better, as you tend to get the 'real' clubbers through the doors, and not the 'pint and a fight' kind of people. Having been to Binary myself, i would say that its going to be big this year, if you keep booking the quality dj's that you have been doin Dave. :clap:

i agree with chazbloke, that there has been a shift back to grass roots, with underground dance music. free partys and squat parties. people prefer parting to this kind of music to six in the mornining, with most clubs offering door opening times to two ! people seem to rather do there own thing when this is the case it seems. even though the illegal option is getting harder and harder.
small nights have to run for ages at a loss, till word gets round, this only happens if everything is right, by this i mean atmosphere/vibe of the club, location, the town its in, the djs that play there, the alternatives on the same night, door policys and cost ! and it is hard to get all this right.
i support small nights, but what fun is it going to a club, that dosent suit banging techno, with less then 30 people in it, djs dont fill clubs, clubbers do.
nye at ether in taunton, proved to me that the clubbers are out there, obviously during the rest of the year the clubs arent offering them what they want.

what is a small night ?if you club holds 150 people and is rammed each week is that small, if yours club holds 600 does that make it big if only 150 people turn up ?
