Oh wow. Soul baring time huh? I've always been a techno fan to the point of refusing to go to house shows and talking mad shit to househeads. Then I moved to Chicago. I went to see The Advent at Smart Bar and who do I see as the opener? Derrick fucking Carter playing a techno set. I was apprehensive at best. The man ended up rocking it changing his mixing style up and everything. It was a great choice as an opening act for Cisco. I worked at a restaurant that was about 1/2 a block away from a club that Carter had a Monday night residency at and decided to take the plunge and go check it out. It was pretty damned good but not techno. After this a friend asked me to go out with her on her birthday and the first place she went was Red Dog where Mazi was playing. I was freaked out because he ended up playing tribal all night. This is house music? I asked myself. I started looking into it and found out that I liked the deeper stuff more than any other type. So yeah, I like some cheesy deep house. I like my techno hard, but my house soft.
Progressive House ~1994 to 2000.
i have a weakness for the rough, disco-y house you here paul johnson, gene farris or derrick may play.
Kathy Dennis That's The Way of The World
not into it at all. lot of my mates are mad about it and some dj it. but I cant stand it. Id rather spend a night in the pissing rain butt naked handcuffed to a park bench then listen to it.
I have a Derrick Carter mix. Tunes on it are fairly solid. It's the "Cut the Crap, Back to basics" mix. 3CD, Derrick Carter, Ralph Lawson and Andrew Weatherall.
Actually not cheesey at all.

I will rip it and PM you later on mate :-) you want all 3 CDs?
That B2B 3 cd was the shit, mine walked years ago, the Weatherall set is classic stuff.
As for digging cheesy house, i once played a certain very nice Morales tune to a tech crowd, just to piss the chin strokers off, worked a treat. I can still get into some of it, the old MAW stuff is amazing, i still love the Renaissance mix series and you can often catch me wigging out to Alister Whitehead.
Yeah i know TMI James...
nah mate, the B2B mix aint deep funky.
Not cheesy at all but i LOVE chicago/hip house, fast eddie, tyree cooper, farmboy, steve silk hurley etc etc ...amazing tunes imo! :cheese:
